Suggestions for a list manager reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- micmalti · 2023-12-25 16:47 Hi everyone. For the past few days, I've been searching for an app (preferably also accessible on an Android phone) from which I can read and modify my lists (future travel destinations, quote collection, software tools). The easy way out is to put each list into a CSV file and sync them over to the phone via syncthing, but I'd honestly prefer to find a better option, if there is one. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- adamshand · 2023-12-25 19:28 I use CalDav plus todo apps for all my lists, but if you don't want that ... Obsidian? Joplin? Logseq? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- micmalti · 2023-12-26 00:23 Thanks for the suggestions. I actually use Joplin for long-form notes, but I don't feel it's well suited for displaying long lists, largely due to the limitations of Markdown. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- olejazz · 2023-12-26 08:59 What about [Vikunja](https://vikunja.io/)? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- micmalti · 2023-12-26 12:03 Vikunja is good for to-do lists but that's not my intended use case. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ritter1999 · 2023-12-27 13:05 Perhaps you are looking for Kanban? Obsidian has a community plugin for it. It's the only way (I've found) to self host kanban *and* have a mobile app. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- micmalti · 2023-12-28 01:33 Kanban is for project management. My use case is to view and (occasionally) update theme-specific lists, like a [quote collection](https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/tag/collections). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ritter1999 · 2023-12-28 01:35 Yes, that's its typical use case. I use it for many things, including things like you're describing. If it's not what you want, that's cool! Just thought I'd throw it out there. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- micmalti · 2023-12-29 10:07 Thanks for sharing your workflow. I don't see myself using Kanban for list viewing, but someone reading this might think otherwise. For the time being, I think I'll store the lists in csv format and view/edit them in Collabora.
