Good tutorial to host OpenVPN reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- wa_00 · 2023-12-25 15:32 I am looking for a good recent and clear tutorial to install OpenVPN on my VPS (ubuntu) and use it on multiple clients. I would appreciate suggestions cozl I only found either some ready bash scripts or very exigent methods requiring more than one VPS. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- pfMorpheus · 2023-12-25 15:57 Instead of setting up OpenVPN I'd recommend to consider using Wireguard or Tailscale if you don't want to bother with managing configs. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- rohit_267 · 2023-12-25 16:20 search for openvpn install script GitHub Edit: https://github.com/angristan/openvpn-install ---------------------------------------------------------------------- housepanther2000 · 2023-12-25 17:19 I would go with WireGuard myself. I use WireGuard in production and it's great. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- arcadianarcadian · 2023-12-25 18:26 I prefer Wireguard but if you want to host OpenVPN, I suggest this one; https://github.com/kylemanna/docker-openvpn ---------------------------------------------------------------------- phein4242 · 2023-12-25 22:49 https://openvpn.net/community-resources/how-to/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- quinyd · 2023-12-26 01:30 Use https://github.com/pivpn/pivpn Works on Ubuntu and doesn’t have to be a Pi. Use it with Wireguard ---------------------------------------------------------------------- wa_00 · 2023-12-28 20:45 Can't thank you enough for your suggestion. I heard before about these services but never bothered to dig more into it. I took your advice and tried Wireguard, didn't work well with me and had some issues on my vps, then tried Tailscale, and man... what a discovery, it's literally a magic. It's now up and running like a charm and all of that in some countable mouse clicks.
