How to use PC/NAS as a storage device for Android reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- FlatDistance3 · 2023-12-25 13:17 Hello I'm looking for a way to store my entire Android data in a PC. It should perform a one way sync of all data (apps, picture, OS etc) from android to PC or NAS. If I can get a solution for this, I don't need to worry about my internal android storage running out, please note that I'm already aware of tool like Syncthing and others, these tools are only for pictures. But I'm looking for solution that's essentially using PC as a NAS that stores everything and my android device is only to view the data from the internet. Thanks ---------------------------------------------------------------------- kaipee · 2023-12-25 13:39 FolderSync Pro. This will sync entire folders and all files. This solves part of your problem (store everything on NAS). The other part (read data only from NAS) relies entirely upon the apps you use. Most will only read from local storage. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- arcadianarcadian · 2023-12-25 14:23 What does meaning "everything" for an Android device? You can easily backup "everything" to Nextcloud with the client. If you export your documents, application files, ringtones, photos, backup files, etc to the filesystem, it's easy to configure to tell Nextcloud, to sync "these things". ---------------------------------------------------------------------- FlatDistance3 · 2023-12-25 20:19 Thanks for mentioning about FolderSync Pro, I guess its better than Syncthing as it allows different types of files and folders to be synced rather than just images. Is there any service/video that are in initial stages that touches on my method on using PC/NAS as storage for android phones? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- FlatDistance3 · 2023-12-25 20:22 I'm talking about using my own PC/NAS as IaaS to powerup my android phone, essentially entire phone data would be stored on PC/NAS and I would use internet to access OS that's stored in PC/NAS ---------------------------------------------------------------------- kmisterk · 2023-12-25 23:18 ## Post Removed Hey, FlatDistance3!
