Looking for ebook advice. Is there a tool or can I create one easily? reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- supermanvthanos · 2023-12-25 04:08 I have all the arrs for plex, and use readarr for books. Just recently set it all up. I have calibre content server running with calibre web also. My issue is that I want to automate the obtaining of the ebook part. When I browse to the calibre-web server on my kindle I get a protocol error. It works fine on my phone, so I know the server is accessible. If that doesn't work, I am forced to either email the books or plug in USB. This wouldn't be terrible if it were only me. But my wife pays for amazon unlimited that I would like to cancel. But I need to give her another method. She could tell me what books, and then I could email them. That's currently my best method. I would love to see automation around requesting and obtaining the books on devices/kindles. The readarr/indexers work perfectly fine. It's the automation afterwards. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mrbmi513 · 2023-12-25 04:19 Calibre-web has send to kindle (via email) functionality built-in, no? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- supermanvthanos · 2023-12-25 04:35 Yes, that is what I've been doing up til now. Was just looking for a more automated way. Request a book and have it show up. Right now my wife has to tell me what book(s). I go to readarr to ge them. Then I go to calibre and send them. It's not the end of the world, just looking for slightly lazier/more automated way. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- cvzero89 · 2023-12-25 05:46 I've been trying to get something like this set up for my Kobo Libra. There's not much out there that will do it seamlessly and will require a lot of extra automation. For example, calibre-web has a Kobo sync option (currently kind of broken) and it requires me to upload the file and set it to what they call a 'shelf'. You can do this with a script but it is not in their official docs (I think). I don't read that fast, I would maybe need to import content every now and then, so I just do it manually. Some things are not worth automating. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- supermanvthanos · 2023-12-25 16:28 Yeah I am thinking just the manual add to readarr, then email from calibre is good enough for now.
