Best way to set up Cloudflare Dynamic DNS in late 2023? reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Elodran · 2023-12-24 23:53 I’m finally moving my selfhosting experiments from a VPS to a physical machine in my house but, since I don’t have a static IP address, I opted to use the dynamic dns service offered by Cloudflare. [On their official website I’ve seen suggested ddclient](https://developers.cloudflare.com/dns/manage-dns- records/how-to/managing-dynamic-ip-addresses/#ddclient) but I haven’t find that much information on which labels should I add to set it up. Therefore, I’ve also found [this docker image](https://github.com/oznu/docker-cloudflare-ddns) that seems pretty clean and easy to set up, but the video talking about it was of 3 years ago and I’ve seen that the github repository has been archived last year… **Which option (not necessarily among the two above) do you prefer to set up your Dynamic DNS with Cloudflare?** (I don’t know if this can be an important information to add or not, but the Linux server I’m using is running NixOS) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Independent_Emu5190 · 2023-12-24 23:57 https://github.com/qdm12/ddns-updater ---------------------------------------------------------------------- d4nm3d · 2023-12-25 00:40 I've been using this one.. hasn't let me down yet https://github.com/oznu/docker-cloudflare-ddns ---------------------------------------------------------------------- atranchina · 2023-12-25 02:56 I second this one. It works flawlessly for me. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- firedrow · 2023-12-25 05:00 +1, I use this container as well ---------------------------------------------------------------------- -eschguy- · 2023-12-25 05:05 If you use Home Assistant there's an integration for it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jakesomething · 2023-12-25 06:53 What's your firewall? Pfsense and many others have built in ddns that works with cloud flare. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mrpink57 · 2023-12-25 08:22 You can just say 2023, we're all here at the same time. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Elodran · 2023-12-25 09:02 It’s the built-in netgear one, so I guess no luck from there… ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jakesomething · 2023-12-25 12:09 https://kb.netgear.com/23860/How-do-I-set-up-a-NETGEAR-Dynamic-DNS- account-on-my-NETGEAR-router ---------------------------------------------------------------------- unoriginaltom · 2023-12-25 13:11 I'm still using the archived one you linked. Still works fine and it's super quick to setup. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Macley6969 · 2023-12-25 14:33 Check out cloudflared, it’s a reverse proxy and is safer as you don’t have to open a port from the internet through your internal network You access this by visiting your 0trust dashboard in cloudflare ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2023-12-25 15:13 [removed] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Impossible-Check-684 · 2023-12-25 15:34 I run a script from my nginx server: https://github.com/NChaves/Cloudflare_DNS_API_bash ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Exit56 · 2023-12-25 23:26 they are doing a solid for anyone else searching this so they dont get 2014’s best methods instead ---------------------------------------------------------------------- e89dce12 · 2023-12-27 00:19 If you're familiar with ansible, use the community.general.cloudflare_dns module https://docs.ansible.com/ansible/latest/collections/community/general/ cloudflare_dns_module.html It's super easy to setup and use, again assuming you are familiar with ansible, already have a host inventory for ansible. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Effective-Heat-7903 · 2023-12-28 19:27 I'm using [cloudflare- ddns](https://github.com/timothymiller/cloudflare-ddns) with docker compose. Works as well as expected.
