Help with Nginx and apache proxies reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- iamwhoiwasnow · 2023-12-24 18:19 I have 2 servers lets call one Jellyfin and the other Nextcloud. Jellyfin is my main server running Nginx and Nextcloud is my second server running apache. I have Nextcloud running on port 8080 to not to conflict with port 80 on Jellyfin. I was able to get a ssl cert for Nextcloud and it works if Nginx is off but if Nginx is on then Nextcloud wont work. Is it possible to get them both to work at the same time? What do I have to do to make this work? Thanks in advance. Also I am rubbing both servers on Ubuntu servers and are both bare metal set ups. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- really_bad_eyes · 2023-12-24 18:37 You can set up Jellyfin on the normal port 8096, Nextcloud's apache on 8080, and use nginx or caddy to proxy requests to local_ip:port for both apps. But your post lacks some important details, such as how you were able to obtain SSL certificate for Nextcloud if it's not running on port 80 and 443. I know you can get SSL via DNS challenges but if you don't yet know how to set up webservers properly I don't think you used DNS challenges. I suspect you're running both nginx and apache on port 80, with nginx proxying to Jellyfin and apache proxying to Nextcloud. In which case you'd need to change either nginx or apache's port and use one to proxy to the other. That's just my guess though. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- iamwhoiwasnow · 2023-12-24 18:42 I was running both on 80 and got Nextcloud a ssl cert with port 80 open but have since changed it to port 8080. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- really_bad_eyes · 2023-12-24 18:44 When Nginx is off, how to you access nextcloud? Is it domain.com:8080 or domain.com? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- iamwhoiwasnow · 2023-12-24 18:54 I made so many changes that now the only way I can access nextcloud is through local-ip:8080 before I could access it by going https://Nextcloud.mydomain.com
