Home dashboard advice reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Olejka2k · 2023-12-24 17:02 Hi fellow selfhosters! I am newbie, hosting an unraid with a couple of services and now I'm thinking to create a dashboard for my family. So I've noticed that the most convenient way is to write things with a pen on a tablet, which is attached somewhere to the wall. So my question is this one - do we have a service, which will act as a home dashboard with calendar for each family member, having kind of tabs or separate pages to check weather, local news and maybe something more (Spotify?). Of course it would be nice to have an app, which will allow to write by hand in calendar slots. Would like to keep everything local, of course. That's too much to ask for? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Legitimate_Farm_3095 · 2023-12-24 17:56 check the useful lists section of the sidebar ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Olejka2k · 2023-12-24 20:45 Thanks, there are great services there, but my request is somewhat more complicated, that's why I am asking the community. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Robbie11r1 · 2023-12-24 23:56 I'm a bit confused by your question, but I think what you are looking for is a wall mounted dashboard. I built one for my family and it is by far one of the most useful tools we have in our house. It is built on Magic Mirror installed on an Orange pi and is 100% loval. We have synchronized calendars (Davx5 on phones, connected to .ICS calendars hosted on local NAS). So the way it works is that we don't touch the wall mounted dashboard, and it simply syncs with the NAS calendars, which we update on pur phones. You mentioned a pen, which would require touch screen...adds a lot or complexity/cost and IMO not worth it. I put together some fairly simple instructions for family/friends as they ask about how to make one every time they come over. I know this is not exactly what you asked for, but the simplicity of this option has been a game changer here. I hope this helps! https://github.com/Robert-litts/home-dashboard ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jmarmorato1 · 2023-12-26 03:10 Does this do what you're looking for? https://github.com/jmarmorato/Intranet-Home-Page ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Olejka2k · 2023-12-26 06:46 Looks interesting, thank you. Looks like that for the pen input I will have to use ical from iPad and sync that
