A wiki that used local file storage? reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- kyne_ahnung · 2023-12-22 22:24 Currently my documentation is a bunch of markdown files that I edit in vscodium locally but nextcloud notes if on the go, at work etc. I don't mind that but the latter is lacking somewhat and I would ideally have a better note or wiki web app that can work with my existing file structure. Anything like that around? I'm hoping for better table of contents creation and use, table editing and a better interface and interaction with the file hierarchy. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ponox · 2023-12-22 23:07 [Wiki.js](https://js.wiki/) supports serving plaintext markdown files via its git backend. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- JimmyRecard · 2023-12-22 23:14 [TiddlyWiki](https://tiddlywiki.com/) - single-file, very portable, can be hosted, has encryption [DocuWiki](https://www.dokuwiki.org/) - perfect balance between features and simplicy, not markdown but similar syntax, flat file [Outline](https://www.getoutline.com/) or [AppFlowy](https://www.appflowy.io/) - not markdown, but comparable to Notion, super easy to use However, I'm personally partial to Obsidian. The clinet is free as in beer for personal use, but not free as in speech. The server is private/proprietary, but there is a MIT reimplementation of the server called [obsidian-livesync](https://github.com/vrtmrz/obsidian- livesync) which you can selfhost. Uses lightly modified markdown, so despite the non-free software, you're in control of your data. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ponox · 2023-12-22 23:22 [Logseq](https://github.com/logseq/logseq) is a solid FOSS alternative to Obsidian which supports Markdown and org-mode syntax. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ctrl-brk · 2023-12-22 23:40 Does the Android version talk to the self-hosted Linux version? Single source of info? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ponox · 2023-12-22 23:55 The desktop version supports syncing to a git repo automatically, but the Android app doesn't have this built-in yet. Syncing the files manually with something like Syncthing or git with Termux works fine.
