Consolidating Server / Services reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- peterbata · 2023-12-22 20:39 Hello all. Where do I begin? At the beginning would be a good as place as any I suppose. As it stands I host the following services in my homelab. Please bare with me. Plex Media Server / Nextcloud / TrueNAS / HestiaCP (Web & Mail Server) / Qbittorrent for the odd movie. I would also like to host my Kontakt libraries via VSL (Vienna Ensemble Pro v.7.x) Will run on the Windows platform The above-mentioned services / apps are all running on separate PC's. They range from Lenovo ThinkServer TS140's / Lenovo ThinkCentre M93's and one or two clones. Very basic. Minimal memory / minimal storage. A few days ago I picked up an HP ProLiant ML350P Gen8 256GB memory and plenty of storage. Obviously, most of you know where I am going with us. I have toyed a little with Proxmox, Hyper-V, and have now started fiddling around with VMWare who by the way have an ESXi image specifically developed for the HP line of servers. I would really appreciate your input. Your thoughts and guidance will be greatle appreciated. Forgive me if I have left out a bunch of details ---------------------------------------------------------------------- LtHizzie · 2023-12-22 23:48 Put Unraid on your bare metal and run all those services in dockers. Easy & Fast. If you want to keep these servers seperate and as a VM, look at P2V. This will help you out. Much appreciated. Happy Holidays! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- peterbata · 2023-12-23 00:44 I did have a question. I understand the concept of both disk2vhd and vmware converter. But how can I convert the linux based machines?
