So I have my domain registered with Google and expect to be ported
over to Squarespace shortly. I'll likely transfer to some other
registrar but I need a solution for sending email from my domain. With
google it was easy to integrate with gmail but I'm not sure if that
will be easy to duplicate with another provider?

I don't think that'll be an issue. Just ensure that your email
account's MX records are properly setup in the new registrar so that
you can continue using gmail with custom domain as if nothing changed.

There might be downtime during transfer when the DNS records are
getting updated, so expect the domain to go down for a while. This
process might take up to 48 hours but in my personal experience, the
max I had to wait for was around four hours.

The way I have it set up now is that I configured the email addresses
in google domains and then added them as aliases in my gmail account.
When I looked into cloudflare for example they let you receive email
to your custom domain addresses but not sending from those addresses
via Gmail.

Cloudflare does have option to [send emails with custom
domain](https://developers.cloudflare.com/dns/manage-dns-records/how-
to/email-records/). You have to setup the DNS records accordingly and
ensure that it matches with the one in your google admin console.

Don’t move. Add Squarespace DNS records to your existing and be done
with it.
