Photographers what did you use to Deliver photos reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ChokunPlayZ · 2023-12-22 15:38 I take photos for my school events, and I'm finding the best way to deliver photos to a lot of people I'm currently using Photoprism but find the issue with its sharing system annoying. I put the photo links in an Instagram story, people would click on it, then it would load normally, They would go to open it in their default browser and then Photoprism would throw them to the login page since they used a weird authentication system that would authenticate everyone clicking the link as guest and when they switch browser that auth token wouldn't be carried over causing the weirdness. I've used Synology's solution before both drive and photos, and they're both slow, I don't know why but it takes a while to load, people did not like this at all what do you use? I'm looking at Immich, but it's still under heavy development and the devs introduced breaking changes once in a while, I prefer something a bit more stable ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Legitimate_Farm_3095 · 2023-12-22 15:56 this was asked yesterday ---------------------------------------------------------------------- unofficialtech · 2023-12-22 16:00 I use Lychee for my wife's photo business. Depending on your business structure you can either give clients a login and share albums to their user or share albums via link only (password protection optional based on client preference). Also gives you the ability to have the same system have some public albums for examples of your work. If you google, you get their old codebase, so make sure you use the github one if you do [https://github.com/LycheeOrg/Lychee](https://github.com/LycheeOrg/Lyc hee) or if you are hosting via docker https://github.com/LycheeOrg/Lychee-Docker ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BinaryPatrickDev · 2023-12-22 16:11 I second this one. It lets you have password protected folders. For just viewing is really good. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- EndlessHiway · 2023-12-22 17:36 No one posting on this sub knows how to scroll down the page slightly. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- PeeK1e · 2023-12-22 17:49 I'm just using Nextcloud. I have 10s of thousands of photos there and it still loads really quick after the initial caching. And you have fine grained access control even for people that aren't logged in, like read/write, password, expiry date, editing/upload/view only etc. I'm using Hetzner Cloud they offer 1TB of storage for as little as ~6$ a month. I was hosting it myself before but the SSD and CPU just were too slow. You need a little beefy machine cause the PHP backend is just drawing a bit of compute power. A managed Nextcloud is just perfect. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Jonteponte71 · 2023-12-22 18:40 I have discovered that some also doesn’t care to even google before they spends a lot of time writing a post here. Even though some things are literally on the first page of a google search. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- EndlessHiway · 2023-12-22 19:47 I got about fifty down votes one time for suggesting someone use google. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- emprahsFury · 2023-12-22 20:40 If the answer is right there, maybe you could just post it? You know, for us of lesser gods. No idea why you choose the same mistake op does, while complaining about it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Legitimate_Farm_3095 · 2023-12-22 20:43 > You know, for us of lesser gods or maybe ... and hear me out before you come back with another insulting response ... you can just learn to use the search box! You know, like most people do? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- nick_ian · 2023-12-22 20:46 I use this WordPress theme [Photography Wordpress](https://themeforest.net/item/photography-responsive- photography-theme/13304399), and I've just used Nextcloud in the past as well. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jcsomerville · 2023-12-22 21:10 I just installed Lychee because of this thread and have played around with Immich as well. My issue with both of these is they have their own databases. I understand why they do but isn't great for my pre-existing directory with all my photos within a folder structure that is Year->Date-of- Shoot. Maybe the database is just a docker compose thing, I'm not sure. What I've been using mostly is Filebrowser. I create a username and password for whoever I'm sharing with and limit their scope to only a folder dedicated to them. It works great on mobile through the WebUI. It's simple but you can view the photos right there and download whatever you want. I imagine most people would use a computer but I people to have the best/easiest experience across platforms. Immich has a great mobile app and allows you to share specific albums with users. The WebUI on desktop is very nice too. But again, it has its own database. The little I messed around with Lychee, the mobile WebUI is kind of ugly. But I haven't delved too far into it. For me, I think I'll stick with Filebrowser. It's a very simple UI but it works for me. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- fart_vandalay · 2023-12-22 21:16 Dropbox ---------------------------------------------------------------------- B0PE · 2023-12-23 00:37 You can set the folderstructure in immich like you want. I have set mine to YYYY/YYYY-MM-DD and you can access the pictures via filesystem. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jcsomerville · 2023-12-23 00:39 Oh, no, sorry. I just meant I already have tons and tons of photos that already exist in their own directories and I don't want to move them or have two copies of it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ChokunPlayZ · 2023-12-23 01:10 Since this is r/selfhosted I prefer something selfhosted, if I really want to use a cloud solution I'll just throw it on my school Google drive and forget about it ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ChokunPlayZ · 2023-12-23 01:31 I don't mind a database, right now my workflow is Camera import to Lightroom then export to jpg the jpgs goes on PhotoPrism and raws goes on my NAS. Immich does everything I need, shows camera metadata, have static sharing links, I might settle with it and only update when required. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Bytepond · 2023-12-23 06:02 And to add, having it hosted by someone like Hetzner will give you significant bandwidth which is important if you're sharing with a lot of people. My upload speed at home definitely wouldn't cut it for anything more than 2-3 people accessing at once. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- oAhT_iAs · 2023-12-23 08:14 I do the same as well. This theme looks nice, and has photo proofing. I used a plugin called picu for photo proofing. Will check out this theme more looks good. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- s8nSAX · 2023-12-23 09:07 Pigeons. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 1amTimon · 2023-12-23 12:26 Immich has external library. Check it out ---------------------------------------------------------------------- marvelish · 2023-12-23 12:59 Is there an app I can self host that will scroll reddit for me? Asking for a friend. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- EndlessHiway · 2023-12-23 13:08 Yes, I have one that does just that, but I can't refer you to it since you would have to scroll down the page slightly to find it.
