I just wish Emby and Jellyfin could catch up and get their feature parity closer to Plex along with sorting out the not-so-user-friendly UI. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Docccc · 2023-12-22 15:01 well i moved to jellyfin after 10 years plex. so thats at least one ;) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- sgtgig · 2023-12-22 15:14 Vikunja is great, glad to see the spotlight. I will have to check out the 0.22 changes, Webhooks sound interesting, I currently have scripts that glue the API to Home Assistant and NTFY for chore and home maintenance reminders but it would be nice if it was simpler ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jaxett · 2023-12-22 15:53 Saltcorn has a new release too! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 100lv · 2023-12-22 16:03 Great work! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Silencer306 · 2023-12-22 17:20 How do you glue home assistant and NTFY with the to dos? And can I do it for any notes or todos app? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- coffey64 · 2023-12-22 19:40 Moved to Emby a couple years ago. So much happier. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- sgtgig · 2023-12-22 19:43 It uses Python requests module to grab tasks from the Vikunja API with GET, parses the JSON result, then uses POST method to send to NTFY as described in its docs, or to a webhook trigger in Home Assistant. It is fairly basic. For server apps that have a good API, it can be handy to check out what's possible. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- -eschguy- · 2023-12-23 02:17 I moved to Jellyfin at the beginning of the year and have been pretty happy with it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Neo_Terra_Rex · 2023-12-23 07:32 I will switch to JF next year, but will keep Plex as I have a lifetime subscription. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- majorTom027 · 2023-12-23 07:39 What is Jellyfin lacking that Plex has? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- UpsetSho · 2023-12-23 10:21 I love the discovery function in plex. With a nice script you can watchlist anything, dowload it via realdebrid then add it to the plex, within a few minutes you can watch anything with a few clicks. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ok-Snow48 · 2023-12-23 12:42 intro skipping ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Aemmillius · 2023-12-23 14:13 Can't you do that with jellyseer + arr stack? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ronmfnjeremy · 2023-12-23 16:19 I've also moved to Jellyfin from Plex, mainly because I didn't wanna pay the Plex pass fee to simply get hardware transcoding. No regrets. Should have just went with Jellyfin in the beginning. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- PurpleEsskay · 2023-12-23 16:24 (I may be admittedly out of date with this as its been a while since I last looked at Jellyfin) - Offline download transcoding - User isolation with individual library access control (last time I looked this was being worked on so possibly exists now?) - Apps for smart tv's that are distributed in all major stores (asking your elderly folks to manually screw around updating an APK just is not going to happen) - LiveTV/DVR that doesn't feel like it was designed by someone who's never looked at an EPG before. - And overall, the UI is still seemingly extremely poor. It's fine for you and me, but again, try getting elderly people who are used to linear tv to figure out how to use it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- UpsetSho · 2023-12-23 18:44 You can but it takes a few extra step, my girlfirend and her family likes to use this feature so I like to keep it convinient ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ejz9 · 2023-12-23 22:59 What about the UI do you feel is unclear? When using a client your movies are right there. Pick what you want form the movies folder or tv shows and you’re straight to business. Plex? Well they recommend a lot of stuff so (from my experience) your own content gets clouded over and depending what device you use it’s cluttered). Also correct me if I’m wrong but plex does not transcode anything you are downloading. Something they still need to work on last I’d heard. Library access controls exist. DVR might but I dont know tbh I don’t watch TV. No smart TV apps necessarily but if you have an ex: AppleTV there is Swiftfin. Plex will continue to dominate this front though cause they have $$$$! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ejz9 · 2023-12-23 23:01 This exists in jellyfin through the one time setup of a plugin. But it’s just as mediocre as plex’s regarding accuracy. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Aemmillius · 2023-12-24 09:56 If you add jellyseer as a [custom menu link](https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/clients/web-config/#custom- menu-links) it's the same amount of clicks away ---------------------------------------------------------------------- UpsetSho · 2023-12-24 20:21 Thats a good one. I would even change if jellyfin wouldn't eat like 5gigs of ram for a 1080p 15mbit stream
