Proxmox + i3-10105 + jellyfin hardware acceleration reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ConfusedTapeworm · 2023-12-22 08:53 Hello, I've proxmox running on an intel i3-10105. Would love to have Jellyfin running on it with proper hardware acceleration to handle large, high quality video files. I have never messed with this stuff before and it's very foreign to me, so I'm quite confused, trying to consolidate the information from a bunch of similar looking posts and threads from all sorts of different forums etc. Technically the hardware should be more than capable enough to do it, but I'm not quite sure how to get it working. Do I go VM or LXC? Do I do iGPU passthrough or something else? How do I configure that stuff? I'm at a loss here. Please help. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2023-12-22 09:50 [removed] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- daedric · 2023-12-22 10:10 I would go LXC. No point in the VM overhead. You need to make sure that the LXC can access the /dev/DRI devices etc. After that, it's configuring Jelly as usual. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ReyvCna · 2023-12-22 11:01 I use an unprivileged LXC, remember to chmod 666 /dev/dri/card0 and /dev/dri/render128 and I also installed the intel non free driver to enable hardware tone mapping for when I transcode hdr h265 to sdr h264 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ConfusedTapeworm · 2023-12-22 11:39 Ok I got HWA working I think, but the tonemapping stuff is still foreign to me, beyond a basic understanding of what it's supposed to do. Is it as simple as checking the "enable tone mapping" (or maybe the vpp one?) box in the playback settings, or does it need to be configured? I did install hte non-free drivers btw.
