Squarespace domain and Hetzner cloud Server reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- squirel_ai · 2023-12-21 16:26 Hi everyone, I need help pointing my domain name to my Hetzner cloud server. This is what I have done so far but it keeps reverting to the Squarespace DNS settings, thus leading me to the default " **we are under construction...**" \- I have added the 2 A records to point to my server IP address both for **@** and **www.** \- I have added the Hetzner name servers ( **hydrogen.ns.hetzner.com.** , etc.) in the custom nameserver setting of Squarespace \- I have created the DNS zone in Hetzner cloud too. When I check in [dnschecker.org](https://dnschecker.org), I have both old Squarespace IP and Hetzner IP at some locations. has anyone encountered this issue or have a tutorial on how to link Hetzner Server IP to Squarespace Domain? Thank you, nOOb ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Zarey · 2023-12-21 16:44 Not been dealing with squarespace yet but what i recently did was transferring a domain from another registrar to Hetzner. I wanted to manage all in one place and it was also cheaper per year. Maybe this is an option for you. See https://support.squarespace.com/hc/en- us/articles/205812338-Transferring-a-domain-away-from-Squarespace On Hetzner robot where you boy a new domain, theres also an option for transfer, just need that auth code and itll take a day or 2. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- squirel_ai · 2023-12-21 16:59 Thank you, I have been thinking about this, but I don't want to have both the server and domain managed in the same place. If for some reason they choose to ban me (it is not my intention, as I am using it for my portfolio), I will not even access the domain... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Zarey · 2023-12-21 22:00 Valid point. I think adding hetzner nameservers would be the culprit here. The DNS settings you change in your squarespace "domain DNS settings panel" will not work with non-squarespace nameservers. From: https://support.squarespace.com/hc/en- us/articles/4404183898125-Nameservers-and-DNSSEC-for-Squarespace- managed-domains "Remove Squarespace’s nameservers to enter new ones. If you add custom nameservers to your domain, the records in the domain’s DNS settings panel won’t apply to the domain." ---------------------------------------------------------------------- squirel_ai · 2023-12-22 08:41 Thank you so much Zarey. this was the issue :'If you add custom nameservers to your domain, the records in the domain’s DNS settings panel won’t apply to the domain." I have removed it, and everything is working right. thank you again and have a great day/evening. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- kmisterk · 2023-12-22 17:05 ## Post Removed Hey, squirel_ai!
