Sharing photos for professional photographers

My wife is a professional photographer and she has been using smugsmug
sevice for years to share photos with her customers. The point is that
she needs the option to choose some photos for customers and smugsmug
has not this option. I have made some trials with photoprism but I
would like to have more control of enable/disable download option and
so on. Anyone knows another option where basically I would manage
private albums and manage options like choose, download, user...?

It's possible in Piwigo to allow Download for some for users. The
setting is in Users Properties. User right management per album is
also possible.

I'm a photographer and I use https://lycheeorg.github.io/

I use simple namings and ask my clients to list the pics they want.

I have the option to choose the album privacy, picture size and
possibility to download photos / album or not.

Honestly, that's the best open source option I found.
