With Uptime Kuma, is there a way to send a DOWN alert only if a different service is still UP? reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- scubanarc · 2023-12-19 21:12 if ServerA is DOWN and ServerB is UP -> ALERT For instance, Kuma is on a home network and the monitored servers are at a colocation facility. If Kuma notices that a server is unreachable AND the local internet is fine, that's a true DOWN. However, if Kuma sees that a server is unreachable and the local internet is also down, don't send an alert, because it's just a local network glitch. I'm using local alerting that works with the internet down, so Kuma can still alert me during a local outage. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- MRP_yt · 2023-12-19 21:19 How i got this sorted: 2x Uptime Kuma One runs locally with all services getting checked and one uptime kuma runs outside my network (i use IONOS cloud server for £1 a month) If local Uptime kuma sends message - server is down TRUE if outside uptime kuma send message - local network flipped over as it can't reach local Uptime Kuma. I hope all this makes sense ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Phynness · 2023-12-19 21:25 Did you even look before you posted? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- RedditSlayer2020 · 2023-12-19 21:29 Basic shell scripting ... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- zoredache · 2023-12-19 21:36 If you are wanting more complicated rules based alerting, you might be to the point where you need to graduate to something a bit more advanced. Like nagios or one of its forks, or something like that. More advanced tools let you define relationships like that, and make it so that if a given router or connection offline then it can assume things behind it are also offline. The downside of course is that the more advanced tools tend to be far more complicated then uptime-kuma. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- adamshand · 2023-12-19 22:19 I haven’t tried, but I think you can do it like this: - setup a monitor group and turn on notifications for the group - add a monitor to the new group for server a and turn off notifications. - add a reversed monitor to the new group for server b and turn off notifications. Now when a is down or b is up the group should notify you. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- bigboicarlo · 2023-12-19 22:51 Sounds like an interesting feature how about requesting with maintainer? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Nuuki9 · 2023-12-19 23:31 There's already been active development for this but sadly it seems to have stalled. Feel free to comment on the PR... https://github.com/louislam/uptime-kuma/pull/1236 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Greetings-Commander · 2023-12-19 23:43 Perhaps not as elegant as having it built in directly, but if you use Homeassistant you could do this. Uptime Kuma as an integration and then create an automation that compares your desired values and then sends the notifications instead of uptime Kuma sending them.
