WordPress Docker Help reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- CompNetNeo · 2023-12-19 20:48 I have been trying to host a website with minimal fuss. I landed on containerized wordpress as a good option for general flexibility. I setup a Proxmox LXC WordPress container. Got it all working and publicly accessible VIA CloudFlare + pfSense + HAProxy with ACME Cert handling the SSL Cert and being handed off at HAProxy before going to the WP LXC container. This worked great! Until i figured out that I cannot live migrate an LXC container. This presents an issue with uptime when a proxmox node requires updates. My next idea was a Ubuntu 22.04 server running portainer. This would also allow me to run several websites on a single host. So away I go standing up a portainer host like i have in the past for internal only services. It all went smoothly until i got to the point of making the site publicly available. Same steps were followed with the LXC container but i got a 503 error. I attempted to change the "site" URL within wordpress but all it managed to do was make it impossible for me to access the site even internally. any guidance would be greatly appreciated! i am new to wordpress or hosting a website outside of running web apps found through here and git hub haha. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- zoredache · 2023-12-19 21:41 > I attempted to change the "site" URL within wordpress but all it managed to do was make it impossible for me to access the site even internally. You didn't mention what image, or how you are running wordpress. But I would look at the logs on the wordpress container. A default configuration of most wordpress images isn't going to give you useful debug information through the web browser. Since displaying those logs can etimes leak information that would weaken your security. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- CompNetNeo · 2023-12-19 21:56 ahh just used the basic config copied from official wordpress version: '3.1' services: wordpress: image: wordpress restart: always ports: \- "80" environment: WORDPRESS\_DB\_HOST: db WORDPRESS\_DB\_USER: core WORDPRESS\_DB\_PASSWORD: wpcoretest WORDPRESS\_DB\_NAME: wordpress volumes: \- wordpress:/var/www/html db: image: mysql:5.7 restart: always environment: MYSQL\_DATABASE: wordpress MYSQL\_USER: core MYSQL\_PASSWORD: wpcoretest MYSQL\_RANDOM\_ROOT\_PASSWORD: '1' volumes: \- db:/var/lib/mysql volumes: wordpress: db:
