Would like to host some videos of my own to watch on my devices, just personal videos, and keep the last watched spot etc. just like a regular video streaming platform reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- christiaanmeyer · 2023-12-18 16:07 Good day. Noob here. I essentially want to set up for myself, the video equivalent of this feature on YouTube Music: You are able to upload your own music onto your account, then you can access it using any of the YouTube Music apps. Podcast episodes (it seems it's just any audio file that's long enough) even have the last position you listened to stored when you reopen it later. How can I set this up for myself for some video podcasts I'd like to watch across my devices? Thank you ---------------------------------------------------------------------- harlekintiger · 2023-12-18 16:24 Maybe look into peertube. A bit overkill but possible would also be jellyfin or plex ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SamanthaSass · 2023-12-18 18:07 for the simplest that keeps track of where you are on a single device, most networked players can do something like that. Then all you need is a file share and the device with a player. I use a NAS that has a "public" file share with media and MX player on my AndroidTV device and it will do what you are asking. Then if I want to switch to a different device, I just FF or RW to get to my spot. To have some sort of "follow me" playback memory would require something along the lines of Jellyfin/Plex or other media player environment. Now if you have legal videos that you own, you could use Youtube to upload and not share, and then just playback on whatever device like you described for YT music. But uploading video files does take a bit more bandwidth, but it will do exactly what you are asking, just not for items that you don't own copyright on. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- christiaanmeyer · 2023-12-19 03:32 Thank you, was thinking of jellyfin yes ---------------------------------------------------------------------- christiaanmeyer · 2023-12-19 03:33 Thank you! This is perfect
