Sub-domains vs URI segment for a multi-client site reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Additional_Smoke_349 · 2023-12-17 18:09 I'm working on a multi-client platform which will be accessible from the individual client's own site. i.e. [www.abc.com](https://www.abc.com) has link to [abc.mysite.com](https://abc.mysite.com) or [www.mysite.com/abc](https://www.mysite.com/abc) I like the UX of using subdomains, feel this is more user-friendly, better for branding, and reduces internal faff having to persist the client in every link. However, subdomains are so easy to just expose our whole client-base. Is there a really effective way to stop these from showing in subdomain lookups/being completely exposed? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ElevenNotes · 2023-12-17 19:17 Wildcard. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- nonlogin · 2023-12-23 19:06 Regardless the main topic, 3rd level domain is controversial. It's just fine from DNS side but email validations could block it for end users. I personally had issues with email at .red TLD - a site just didn't accept it, because stupid string validation.
