Nginx keeps becoming non-responsive? reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Gerrendus · 2023-12-17 17:54 My current home setup is that I have a raspberry pi3b running pihole and openvpn, and a minipc running proxmox with a few vms/lxcs. I’ve not setup anything to be exposed externally, and had mainly set up nginx (on the proxmox machine) just so that I didn’t necessarily have to remember the various ip and port combinations to access it, however it seems like if I don’t use nginx for a while it just becomes completely non responsive? If I reboot its container after a few minutes I can use it again, but then some time later everything is just non responsive (even its landing page). Does anyone have suggestions for what may be going wrong or an alternative here? (Can’t just use the dns records on the pihole because some things need non-standard ports, plus the ui is a bit cumbersome). Proxmox doesn’t show that the nginx container is using all of its allocated ram, and there should be some extra ram even if all the containers are maxing themselves out. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- daedric · 2023-12-17 18:58 How, inside proxmox, is nginx being run ? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Gerrendus · 2023-12-17 19:40 Nginx proxy manager as an LXC. Initially setup by tteck’s scripts. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- daedric · 2023-12-18 15:46 I'll assume you're using docker inside LXC right ? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Gerrendus · 2023-12-18 23:12 I don’t believe so…. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- daedric · 2023-12-18 23:21 > tteck’s scripts Well... "docker ps" will snitch it all. Nevertheless, are you running out of free space on the container ? NPM is quite loggy... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Gerrendus · 2023-12-18 23:33 'top' doesn’t show any docker entries, just 3 nginx entries. Proxmox says there’s about 1.5gb of the allocated 4gb available, though it is currently working, so can’t rule out that a restart I did yesterday cleared some logs out. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- daedric · 2023-12-19 19:04 When the LXC "crashes", can you check the host logs ? Or maybe dmesg ? Might it be OOM ? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Gerrendus · 2023-12-19 19:40 “Crashes” meaning goes unresponsive? I didn’t see any host logs anywhere and proxmox didn’t report it as being oom on the dashboard, and I’m pretty certain I haven’t allocated all of the machines ram.
