Is there a Resilio alternative that allows Update instead of only sync? reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- greypic · 2023-12-16 17:28 I used Resilio for years before realizing that when I delete a file on my computer, it is deleted on the share. Is there something similar that can run in the background that can be configured to Update one way? I need it on windows machines to sync to my unRAID server. Thanks ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-12-16 17:43 SyncThing as a quick search would have also told you. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- greypic · 2023-12-16 17:48 So weird when people reply like this. Thanks for the help. Sorry it was hard for you to do it without snark. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-12-16 17:53 So weird when people dont use the search before posting. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Legitimate_Farm_3095 · 2023-12-16 17:57 it's really not weird considering these are some commonly asked questions. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- sudden_flatulence · 2023-12-16 19:06 Yeah, I agree. The hostility is so unnecessary. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Simplixt · 2023-12-16 19:07 Resilio can do One-Way-Sync if you look into the documentation [https://help.resilio.com/hc/en-us/articles/204754279-Is-one-way- synchronization-possible-](https://help.resilio.com/hc/en- us/articles/204754279-Is-one-way-synchronization-possible-) But you can also use Syncthing. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- greypic · 2023-12-16 19:59 Really? I gotta check that out. I thought I searched this pretty thoroughly. Thanks for the link. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Simplixt · 2023-12-16 20:11 No, that's a Two-Way-Sync, as adding new files is "writing". And deleting is also "writing". With Resilio and Syncthing you can only activate both, but not differentiate. You might want to look into Archive/Versioning functions: [https://help.resilio.com/hc/en-us/articles/204754239-Using-Archive- for-file-versioning-and-restoring-deleted- files-](https://help.resilio.com/hc/en-us/articles/204754239-Using- Archive-for-file-versioning-and-restoring-deleted-files-) Here the client can still "delete" or "overwrite" files. But you have the possibility to restore them. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Fluffer_Wuffer · 2023-12-16 20:36 Especially when you consider, it takes far more effort compared to just ignoring.. and there is never any positive benefit to be gained, in fact it's the polar opposite (you'll just be rewarded with more negativity. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- cameos · 2023-12-16 21:17 Resilio Sync is not good for your case. I would recommend that you take a look at FreeFileSync, which offers "Update" sync: https://freefilesync.org/manual.php?topic=synchronization-settings ---------------------------------------------------------------------- greypic · 2023-12-16 22:27 That's what I have been using but can't figure a way to schedule it or have it monitor a folder.
