Hello everyone

I am very new to self hosting. Currently i am only running a 4TB plex
server but i was to expand the storage and try afew different new
things.

I am interested in getting up a photo library which can support RAW
files. Itd just be nice to be able to tag photos better and have
easier acess to seeing photos ive taken. I mainly use a sony camera
but some photos are from my phone. I have years of photos backed up
(but its currently all on my computer).

Ive looked at these two

* Photoprism - Seems to have a lot of issues installing on TrueNAS
but i like the AI features that identify faces, would make taging alot
easier moving forward.
* Next cloud - Apparently alot easier to set up than Photoprism but i
am unsure about present AI tech in Nextcloud, i cant find anything on
it

I was also thinking of storing all my video files on this server too.
Have you tried hosting video files on a home server and editing on
your pc? Will that slow things down alot?

I was just interested to hear from the community about what your using
and your experience with it. Im still new to this kind of thing but
setting up the plex has ultimately been a real joy. Its like having my
own netflix i can share with my friends and family, i love it

Thank you for reading

Nextcloud Memories (not Photos) is really good. Auto tagging with
Recognize app, sharing, raw support, transcoding (also good for
videos), folder sharing, album collaboration, exif support and
editing, geolocation support, android mobile app, timeline view, face
recognition, and quite a bit more to play with. Just setup desktop
sync and sync those photos up and point memories to the directory and
you're good to go. Definitely worth a look, and IMO not given enough
credit h especially if you already use Nextcloud.

Using NextCloud with Memories from sometime and I just say it’s pretty
good, the only downside is that it does not have any iOS app
