My subdomain stopped working reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Jeffery8923 · 2023-12-15 20:57 Hello, I tried to install an SSL certificate with the help of the [desec.io](http://desec.io/) Docs but it didnt work so I tried to to that with Lets Encrypt ones (I followed the instructions on [https://letsencrypt.org/](https://letsencrypt.org/)). After following Lets Encrypt instructions the console displayed a message saying that the certificate is installed. But when I tried to go to my website using the subdomain the browser said that it can\`t access the website. I uninstalled the certificate but it is still not working. I also deleted the A record and made it again but that didnt help. Can you tell how I can fix this? Thanks in advance, Jeff. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-12-15 21:00 > I tried to install an SSL certificate with the help of the desec.io Docs What does that exactly mean? Log outputs? > After following Lets Encrypt instructions the console displayed a message saying that the certificate is installed. There is a whole lot of info missing here. How did you generate your certificate? What software did you use for that? What webserver are you now using to serve it? What are the exact error messages? Log outputs? Btw the [deSEC forum](https://talk.desec.io/) is very good but i doubt your problem lies with deSEC itself. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- StruggleElegant3855 · 2023-12-15 21:17 Save your self the headache and use cloudflare free DNS to handle SSL if you can set your domain nameservers. Otherwise make a txt file of your setup and feed it into chatGPT then ask it how to set up the SSL cert for your specific setup. @u/thekrautboy ill take the time to help people since your hell bent on being another stackoverfolw cunt. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-12-15 21:18 You are so odd. Why do you keep replying to my own comments, phrasing it like you reply to the OP, and then also tagging my username (and failing at it, this isnt Twitter/X). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ibfreeekout · 2023-12-15 21:23 And then realize that they're forwarding traffic over HTTP without any of the users knowing about it, opening the requests up for being tampered with between Cloudflare and the servers. Still worth having HTTPS setup in that direction too. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-12-15 22:44 Oh what happened, did you delete your own comment /u/StruggleElegant3855? Why? But you claimed before that youre so proud of everything you say and that none of your posts ever get removed :(
