Synced it via Apache WebDAV. Works like a charm. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- vertiman · 2023-12-16 04:24 Standard notes seems pretty good. It’s not free, but can be self hosted. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Sapphosings · 2023-12-16 07:16 Emacs org mode and shadowfile ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TBT_TBT · 2023-12-16 10:56 Was in your place 1,5 years earlier. I have moved everything to https://www.notion.so/ via https://github.com/vzhd1701/enex2notion . Took forever, but I got it done. You might however not be able to move some notes with binary data (e.g. installation files) in it, but that is imho ok. Notion is so much better than Evernote. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- lucassou · 2023-12-16 11:23 Well I use notion too but it's not really self hosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TBT_TBT · 2023-12-16 11:27 All answers in this thread do not consider the „3000 Evernote notes“ of /u/FutureLife777 . I am obviously aware that Notion is not self hosted, but the way I described is a way I did myself to get away from Evernote. If you want to recommend a self hosted note taking app, also mention how those 3000 notes can be taken into that app. I am not aware of such an app and no self hosted app reaches the featureset of Notion. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- LastTreestar · 2023-12-16 13:23 Trilium ---------------------------------------------------------------------- labs-labs-labs · 2023-12-16 14:22 Obsidian + community plugin "Remotely Sync" to sync via Nextcloud. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- LastTreestar · 2023-12-16 17:45 You don't seem familiar with trilium. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TBT_TBT · 2023-12-16 23:43 I know of it, it might be comparable to Evernote, but not to Notion. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- FutureLife777 · 2023-12-17 16:00 are they give offline access? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- vnagornyy · 2023-12-17 16:03 Be very careful when you store your data with shared hosting providers. Their acceptable use policies always have a clause forbidding file storage. Their primary usage is website hosting. I've seen accounts get suspended once the hosting provider notices many files stored. Bluehost: "Our Services are designed to host your website only and may not be used as a data repository." Hostgator: "Our Services are designed to host your website, not serve as a data repository." GoDaddy: "you shall not use the Hosting Services as: (1) a repository or instrument for placing or storing archived files;" Just be careful and keep your own backups. You're better off signing up for a free Nextcloud account with a certified provider if you want to avoid paying extra: [https://nextcloud.com/sign-up/](https://nextcloud.com/sign-up/) (Tab Digital offers 8GB). If Nextcloud Notes doesn't fit your needs, you can connect Joplin to store data on your Nextcloud account. You can also do it with Obsidian (plus Remotely Save plugin). Obsidian allows [importing Evernote](https://obsidian.md/blog/free-your-notes/) notes. There's also a [converter from Evernote to Markdown](https://github.com/wormi4ok/evernote2md). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- vnagornyy · 2023-12-17 16:09 Let me make you aware then 😉 There are self-hosted alternatives to Notion: \- [https://www.appflowy.io](https://www.appflowy.io) \- [https://affine.pro](https://affine.pro) Even Nextcloud can be an alternative with Notes, Collectives, Tables, Forms, support for Markdown (.md) files, Deck, and much more. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- FutureLife777 · 2023-12-17 17:59 Helpful information.if hosting not allowed then simple vps will work. I am stick with hosting cause now a days webapps are complicated need docker.i have less knowledge in docker. Thanks again for this info. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TBT_TBT · 2023-12-17 19:36 I know those as well, both have their caveats. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- vnagornyy · 2023-12-17 19:47 Everything has caveats, including Notion. Got to find something that meets one's needs, whatever that may be. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Exciting-Hat4901 · 2023-12-18 09:19 Anytype? No web version, but mobile apps & self-hosting is possible
