Access remote self website by shadowsocks reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Aromatic_Bobcat3735 · 2023-12-15 10:06 Recently, I realized that it is not safe to expose my selfhosted services on the public, even with https. I didn't open my 443 port on my remote vps ubuntu, where I jave vauldwarden, calendar, adguard, nginx, etc. To access it, I also setup shadowsocks on my remote vps. Now I can access my remote vps services from my local windows 10 laptop chrome brower via shadowsocks. It works well. I like it. The thing is my android phone. I opened my android shadowsocks, and tried to access my remote vps services, I failed. Because my android shadowsocks didn't use my remote vps dns resolver. How to resolve my android problem? Thanks advance to your any comments ---------------------------------------------------------------------- sk1nT7 · 2023-12-26 23:31 I personally would skip shadowsocks at all as it is slow and the obfuscation is often not needed. Have a look at wg-easy. Bascially an easy to use web frontend for a wireguard VPN. Supports custom DNS servers and runs rock solid. The official Wireguard mobile apps as well as Desktop apps runs great too. https://github.com/Haxxnet/Compose-Examples/tree/main/examples%2Fwg- easy Alternatively, have a look into running your own IKEv2 VPN: https://blog.lrvt.de/dockerized-ikev2-vpn/
