Outbound Bandwidth usage on a relatively empty VPS

I have a new VPS which I intend to use for hosting a WP website. The
website is still being built, the website is not live. But I noticed
the VPS has outbound Bandwidth usage of about 1.38GB in just about 20
days. Inbound Bandwidth usage has been around 1.6GB.
The VPS is just used for the website setup right now.

Inbound Bandwidth seems reasonable - considering the installations &
updates for the linux OS. But I find it puzzling that the outbound has
been almost as much as inbound.

I was wondering if any one would know what could cause this? Or am I
missing something very basic? Or is this normal for a Linux based VPS?

Apologies if this is something very basic, would like to know whatever
could be causing it.

If you don’t mind me asking what is the website hosting? (Videos
pictures etc)

It is hosted at Vultr, it is a blank WP site as of now - with no
traffic.
