Media sharing solution reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- HexEditHD · 2023-12-14 03:53 Hello, I'm wondering what recommendations do you fine folks have to share media. My current setup is a Linux server running docker with the typical sonarr/radarr setup. qBit will download and shove the data in an openmediavault server and server it over SMB where I share it via Nextcloud. The problem is that Nextcloud is unreliable via docker and I need an alternative to share the media efficiently. Thanks again for the help! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- flicman · 2023-12-14 04:17 My Nextcloud is rock stable in all three places I have it installed. But I also run Jellyfin for specific media viewing. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-12-14 04:20 What exactly do you mean by sharing media? A fileserver for downloads? Videostreaming? What have you researched so far, what have you tried? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- HexEditHD · 2023-12-14 04:47 Just a fileserver, I've looked into nextcloud a while back and just sharing links but as soon as I need to update the container all hell broke loose. I've looked into MinIO but I couldn't figure out how to set it up. The idea solution would be that the hardware hosting the media would be the one to serve it to whoever I wanted to as opposed to having another piece of software be in between the server and the user. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-12-14 06:12 > Just a fileserver Plenty of options then. Use the search, this gets asked frequently. It mostly depends on how you want to serve files. SMB/NFS network shares. SFTP, S3, HTTP(S) etc. Does it need to have its own dedicated mobile app, android or ios. Or can it use those common protocols and you can use whatever app you want to access... Things to think about and then do research.
