Unsung Heroes? reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Truth_44 · 2023-12-13 20:26 Not tinkered with my homelab for a while and I’m looking for a new project….Looking for some homelab unsung heroes? Any suggestions for cool self-hosted services that don’t get enough love? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-12-13 20:39 Laaaaaaaaazy ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Truth_44 · 2023-12-13 20:46 Apologies if that’s how my post same across, I should have been less lazy and worded my post a little more carefully. I was hoping for some niche suggestions, something that may not be posted about or talked about much. Anything that anyone has deployed that doesn’t get enough love ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-12-13 20:50 Some niche suggestions are even more likely to not fit whatever you are looking for. Blind recommendations are a waste of time for both you and the person who writes their favorite things for you. The chances that my own niche favorite thing will be something that helps you are near zero. If you want recommendations, invest a minute and mention what things youre looking: Home Automation, Image libraries, file processing, note taking, blogging, whatever. Tons of areas. You spent seconds asking "recommend me something" and then other should each spend minutes writing you lists of software with 99% of them being not up to your taste. The result? You waste your time reading those lists and we waste our time writing them. **If you just want lists of software, look at the ones i already mentioned and linked.** ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Truth_44 · 2023-12-13 20:59 Possibly not, but often interest can be sparked. Blind recommendations is exactly what I was hoping for, something I may not have considered! Last time I checked, Reddit was about community and engagement. A post opening discussion about lesser known self hosted services surely fits the bill? I don’t just want lists of software…That is precisely the point. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-12-13 21:01 > Blind recommendations is exactly what I was hoping for, something I may not have considered! Then browse through this list for example: https://github.com/Kickball/awesome-selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Truth_44 · 2023-12-13 21:13 Great way to stifle conversation 👍🏼 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-12-13 21:17 About as great as asking for random things. You clearly dont seem to get my point so i give up. Good luck on your search. Im sure someone will spend time recommending you a bunch of random things and then you can be happy i hope. Btw this sub even has a rule about lazy low effort posts. Good night :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Truth_44 · 2023-12-13 21:21 I would absolutely see and agree with your point if my intention was to get some recommendations and bugger off without a word. I was hoping to have some interesting discussions around topics I may not have considered and use cases I didn’t realise I had ---------------------------------------------------------------------- beesuptomyknees · 2023-12-14 03:34 Don’t listen to this twat. He lurks in this sub and shit-talks every post and provides nothing of value. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-12-14 07:17 Awww :(
