Reverse Proxy Limited to 100mbps reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Joonas1233 · 2023-12-13 19:09 For the life of me, I can't figure out why am i only getting 100/100mbps up-down transfer speeds when accessing my server outside my home network. Internally I'm running a 2.5gbps connection and can max it out. Also when port forwarding straight from the router I can achieve my maximum isp speed of 500/500mbps. To break it down: HTTPS://cloud.---.com equals 100mbps HTTP://cloud.---.com:port equals 500mbps (my data plan max) I have tried different DDNS providers and not a charm. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Vangoss05 · 2023-12-13 19:14 single core speed/power on the reverse proxy isn't fast enough ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Conscious-Fault-8800 · 2023-12-13 19:16 You might want to tell US what reverse proxy Software youre using, how it is installed and what configuration values you use. Otherwise, It's all a guessing game ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Joonas1233 · 2023-12-13 19:31 That unfortunately does not make sense as it's exactly limited to 99.5-100mbps. Cpu cores are sitting at 8-15% ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Joonas1233 · 2023-12-13 19:35 Currently, I'm using [seafile- pro](https://docker.seadrive.org/seafileltd/seafile-pro-mc:latest) and [Cloudreve](https://hub.docker.com/r/xavierniu/cloudreve) while reverse proxy is [thisone](https://registry.hub.docker.com/r/jlesage/nginx-proxy- manager). Everything is installed via docker. Server is running Unraid 6.12.6 CPU: i7 7700k Ram: 32GB DDR4 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- FuriousRageSE · 2023-12-13 20:31 Can it be that you ISP is limiting the speed on that specific port (like 80?) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-12-13 20:39 Try /r/NginxProxyManager ---------------------------------------------------------------------- _Morlack · 2023-12-13 21:00 You could test if the issue is the reverse proxy just stopping it and force temporary your application to listen on that port. If speed issue will goes away, then the problem lies in the reverse proxy, otherwise is your isp. P.S. you can also let your reverse proxy listen on different port to test it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- froid_san · 2023-12-13 22:33 If you are using cloudflare, that might be one of the reason. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Joonas1233 · 2023-12-13 22:44 That would be odd but I'll contact them about it. Using the internal application port while port forwarding seems to use full speed, however. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thehoffau · 2023-12-13 22:51 Your internet service provider is doing per session rate limiting on known ports.. put an open source speed test behind https and see if.more threads help. As SSL is encrypted and used a lot for bulk transport and VPNs now it's treated a bit like torrents were... They are NOT inspecting your traffic just queue and rate limit the packets on known ports... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Joonas1233 · 2023-12-13 23:19 Thank you for the advice! Just confirmed it. They are indeed port- limiting.
