Script to download and de-DRM content from audible reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jvanbruegge · 2023-12-13 14:37 Hi, I've been using a script to download and remove the encryption from audible audiobooks for a while now and I though some here might like it as well. This allows me for example to have all my audiobooks in audiobookshelf (and of course I do not depend on audible apps in the future). The script is available on github: https://github.com/jvanbruegge/nix- config/blob/master/scripts/audible-convert.sh It only requires jq, ffmpeg and [audible- cli](https://github.com/mkb79/audible-cli) installed. Before you use the script for the first time run `audible-quickstart` to log into your account and then run `audible activation-bytes` to get a decryption key. From then on just running `audible-convert` will show you the list of books you own and `audible-convert ` will download and decrypt. Have fun selfhosting! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- -SHINSTER007 · 2023-12-13 14:40 very cool ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jvanbruegge · 2023-12-13 14:59 Forgot to mention, but the script also gets the metadata from audible and writes it into the m4b file using ffmpeg, so chapter info ist still available in the final file ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TamSchnow · 2023-12-13 15:22 Perfect. This was missing in my big pile of scripts that I intend to use some day. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- kasalacto · 2023-12-13 16:13 neat! thanks for sharing! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- XxNerdAtHeartxX · 2023-12-13 17:01 Why not just use [Libation](https://github.com/rmcrackan/Libation/)? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jvanbruegge · 2023-12-13 17:28 Because I just want a simple script i can run in a tmux shell on my server, not a full blown management GUI. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Whyd0Iboth3r · 2023-12-13 17:32 HA! Exactly! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- RydRychards · 2023-12-13 19:18 Does anybody have something similar for bookbeat? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- nik282000 · 2023-12-13 20:45 There is a project out there that lets you extract your activation bytes, offline, from a downloaded file using rainbow tables. If I can find it I'll edit this post. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- nipsec · 2023-12-13 21:51 Nice one! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- gigachadxl · 2023-12-14 00:15 https://github.com/jo1gi/audiobook-dl ---------------------------------------------------------------------- narcabusesurvivor18 · 2023-12-14 01:10 Nice!
