I got the lifetime license a while ago and have been waiting for this milestone. the care you put into this is exceptional, very good looking, very thought out. I wish you would support EU stuff, but it's really complicated rn. hopefully you can extend this to EU once we have standardized FHIR access. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- analogj · 2023-12-13 15:46 Thanks so much for supporting the project! As a lifetime license holder you'll get access to the Desktop apps for free, I just need to finish writing up the instructions. You can expect and email this evening. Yeah, Fasten will absolutely support other countries with standard FHIR API's. However until then you can use the Manual Record Entry form to enter your data manually. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- LuckyHedgehog · 2023-12-13 16:03 I don't see anything on the site about a lifetime license, is that still an option? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- analogj · 2023-12-13 16:07 Yes it is! - https://docs.fastenhealth.com/funding.html The link to purchase it is at the bottom of the funding page. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- LuckyHedgehog · 2023-12-13 16:11 Thanks! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Goaliedude3919 · 2023-12-13 16:48 I have a couple questions if you don't mind. 1. On your funding page you say "In the future, we plan to monetize Fasten by offering a SAAS version with a subscription fee and desktop versions which you’ll be able to purchase in the Windows/Mac App Stores." Does this mean that you plan on eventually moving the project away from being open source with the ability to install via Docker? 2. I remember in previous posts you had said that there were lots of DB changes happening, so being able to upgrade from one version to another usually wasn't possible due to DB changes. With this being the v1 release, is this now the final iteration of the DB? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- analogj · 2023-12-13 17:02 Not at all :) > Does this mean that you plan on eventually moving the project away from being open source with the ability to install via Docker? Nope, Fasten will always be open-source, with a self-hosted version with almost (if not perfect) feature parity between self-hosted & cloud. I think of it like Grafana vs Grafana Cloud. It's also one of the reasons why I'm trying to be thoughtful about adding new features (I need to make sure they work on Desktop, Docker & Cloud). > I remember in previous posts you had said that there were lots of DB changes happening, so being able to upgrade from one version to another usually wasn't possible due to DB changes. With this being the v1 release, is this now the final iteration of the DB? Yes! I probably should have called that out in the post. The Database is now guaranteed to be backwards compatible between versions. I'll also need make some changes to the docs to show users which folders to volume mount when using Docker. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Goaliedude3919 · 2023-12-13 17:07 Both those answers are exactly what I was hoping to hear :) I've been waiting to give this a try until the DB was backwards compatible, so I'm glad I can finally try it out! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- milkman1101 · 2023-12-13 18:32 This looks great although, it's a shame NHS (UK) isn't more open with the data it holds, even asking your GP for online access is painful and all you'll ever get is "patient had appointment". Following this project to see if / how someone gets on with an NHS integration using it's official APIs, it's nearly impossible even for government organisations to access it as most of the time there isn't a legal basis for it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- analogj · 2023-12-13 18:56 Agreed, I'm Canadian and I have the same issues accessing my childhood medical records :( Thankfully Fasten now has the ability to manually enter records, which is a (time-consuming, but acceptable) workaround. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Untreated3763 · 2023-12-13 19:09 This looks awesome! Super excited to try it out. As an aside, I worked at one of the OG PHR companies as a PM several years ago and would be happy to support an Open-Source project like this if needed. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- analogj · 2023-12-13 20:14 Hey, thanks for the support! Oh, that sounds incredibly interesting. I'd love to jump on a call and chat if you're open to it - https://calendly.com/jason-kulatunga/30min If none of those times work for you just DM me some times and I'll make it work :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- sauladal · 2023-12-13 20:20 > I'll also need make some changes to the docs to show users which folders to volume mount when using Docker. I'll wait for this before setting up! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- analogj · 2023-12-13 20:31 I just updated the docs with the required changes. It's pretty simple, just a couple of `-v` bind mounts for the DB and Cache folders docker run --rm \ -p 9090:8080 \ -v `pwd`/db:/opt/fasten/db \ -v `pwd`/cache:/opt/fasten/cache \ ghcr.io/fastenhealth/fasten-onprem:main ---------------------------------------------------------------------- sauladal · 2023-12-13 20:42 Great, thanks! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ganon_Cubana · 2023-12-13 21:42 I'm looking over the site, and the FAQ says that manual entry isn't a thing yet. Just a friendly heads up https://docs.fastenhealth.com/faqs.html ---------------------------------------------------------------------- analogj · 2023-12-13 21:49 yeah, sorry the docs are a bit out of date now that v1 has been released. I'll spend some time over the next couple of days updating them. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- fredflintstone88 · 2023-12-13 23:38 So, does this mean that we will not be able to retain our database with future upgrades? I have been real excited to introduce this to our family, but want to hold off until I can make certain that I don't have to redo importing all of the data ---------------------------------------------------------------------- analogj · 2023-12-13 23:58 Hey /u/fredflintstone88 Prior to v1 users were warned that database changes may not be backwards compatible (because the codebase was changing so frequently). With our v1 release we're making a promise that our DB changes are backwards compatible between versions, meaning that you won't have to re-import/re-enter all your data inbetween versions. I've updated the README to reflect this -- the `docker run` command now includes 2 bind mounts `-v` to persist your database outside of the container: docker run --rm \ -p 9090:8080 \ -v `pwd`/db:/opt/fasten/db \ -v `pwd`/cache:/opt/fasten/cache \ ghcr.io/fastenhealth/fasten-onprem:main Hopefully that answers your concerns? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- dzakich · 2023-12-14 04:25 Hey OP, great job. Just finding this platform out and reading through your GitHub and website - impressive work. Can self-hosted be installed on Proxmox bare metal Debian/Ubuntu LXC (iow w/o resorting to docker)? Thank you! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- analogj · 2023-12-14 05:27 Hey /u/dzakich Yep, it should definitely be possible to run it on Proxmox without Docker. To be completely honest, my current strategy is based on monetizing user convenience -- basically charging to provide pre-built binaries & docker images for various OS's. If you'd be willing to purchase a Desktop or Lifetime license, I'd be happy to provide you with a Proxmox/LXC compatible binary that you can use. Is that something you'd be interested in? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- milkman1101 · 2023-12-14 12:07 Think I'm going to spin up an instance of this still, I was admitted to a hospital a year ago (not in my local area, different county and CCG) and as I was a "new patient" they didn't have access to any of my historical data so they kept asking about blood results etc. Being in the software dev field I have no idea what the numbers actually mean half the time so of course I wasn't able to provide an answer to anything they asked. To cut the story short, I nearly lost my life suffering with sepsis before they could access all my records, and I never want to be in that situation again so even having this could be super beneficial in the future (and potentially life saving for other hospitals, especially in other countries if I ever decide to travel). I'll see if I can help with an NHS integration though for this and poke the bear a little. Outside of this piece, I would like notifications for different things like test results etc (as currently they only tell you the result if they are bad) so I had previously been looking into an integration with home assistant. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- healthAPIguy · 2023-12-14 15:44 EU is not homogenous here - it's country by country. The Netherlands have well developed FHIR APIs via Medmij ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Dinth · 2023-12-14 16:23 Amazing idea but is there any use of it in the UK? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- analogj · 2023-12-14 16:40 Thanks! We're currently tracking international support in this Github Issue: https://github.com/fastenhealth/fasten-onprem/issues/42 As of now the NHS Patient Access API's are still under development, and are not available for pulling real patients data. Thankfully Fasten now has the ability to manually enter records, which is a (time-consuming, but acceptable) workaround until the NHS APIs are ready. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- fredflintstone88 · 2023-12-17 04:28 Yes, it does. I just spun up a container. However, I am not able to connect any sources. It goes through the authentication process just fine, but then says error occured. I did get an email from the MyChart that an external app was granted access. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- analogj · 2023-12-17 15:24 Hmm, that’s definitely strange. MyChart is a pretty stable integration — however there are some known issues when the intuition is using an older version of MyChart. I’ve created a legacy provider for that case. Do you see something in the error message about dynamic client registration? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- fredflintstone88 · 2023-12-19 16:28 I see a "An error occurred while accessing quadmed: '{}'" box on the top right. I looked at the container logs, and honestly, there is too much information there...I will try and weed out the relevant information later. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- DJ_Lobster · 2023-12-19 21:04 I saw the data is stored in a local SQLiteDB. Can that data be moved from self hosted to the desktop version and vice versa? I'm looking forward to seeing this grow, this is a very cool project! If the lifetime license is still around next month I'll definitely be getting one. I've had some health issues here and there and I think about getting all the data together from the various places it's scattered around, but have always felt like it was too daunting of a task and had no idea where to even start or how to put it all together in a way that's safe and easy to use. Side note, in the docs under the FAQs you have the i and a for compliant switched around on the line "I’ve been working on complaint software/infrastructure".
