Live TV Options reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Abs3nt1 · 2023-12-13 07:53 I just got a raspberry pi and would like to Jellyfin on it and later connect my NAS server to it so I can serve local files and use the pi for movies and series / live tv. My friend's cousin has this android tv box that apparently "unlocks" all channels which he gets for free. Though the funny thing is his cousin's friend has an android box tv but pays a monthly subscription for it to some random person and this person can shut off service at will. I see Plex offers live tv as well, so there must be some way? How can I obtain live tv channels without using an IPTV service + tivimate. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- AutoModerator · 2023-12-13 07:53 This Post Is Not Allowed *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. This gives me the illusion of live tv. I have channels with different content that are randomized daily or weekly depending on the amount feed into it. And I can just pick from something "on" instead of having to choose something from my vast catalog. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- operator207 · 2023-12-14 00:51 >How can I obtain live tv channels without using an IPTV service + tivimate. I may be misunderstanding, but from how I read this last sentence I have to ask. Do you want OTA TV channels, or Cable/SAT TV channels, over IP (cause streaming) but don't want to pay for a service, or hardware? I'm not sure how you would get live TV digitally without some subscription or device that created a local 'service' to consume. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Square_Lawfulness_33 · 2023-12-14 00:54 Hdhomerun is a network attached tv tuner that has a model for local tv and one for cable tv. You can set it up with Plex. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- InvaderOfTech · 2023-12-14 15:09 I use the HDHomerun for Antenna and cable Tv. Works great. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- rjames24000 · 2023-12-14 16:32 you'll never get ALL of your normal network tv channels without an iptv sub or a lot of m3u links.. but if you happen to have any of those in the future you can use threadfin with jellyfin to integrate livetv into the platform which emulates a hdhomerun
