Which tool do I use to manage a fleet of Ubuntu Servers across multiple cloud providers? reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- samael6 · 2023-12-12 12:34 The tool should have a UI like Portainer, which allows me to manage the servers, and the services running on them as well as automatic updates, with a Dashboard that shows me which VPS/VDS/VMs have full disk or RAM at the limit. I have servers on multiple cloud providers like Contabo, Oracle, Racknerd, in addition to servers in my homelab, I put all of them on the same tailnet, but, I still have to put the ansible IPs to execute daily maintenance tasks. At my job, the infrastructure team of our data center uses various tools for what I want to solve with just one. In fact, there isn’t a tool with a centralized Control Panel and agents like Portainer is for Docker Clusters (Docker SWARM) and its Standalone version? Sorry for my poor English, I’m Brazilian. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-12-12 12:40 Take a look at https://ubuntu.com/landscape Other than that, plenty of monitoring and management tools exist and this gets asked and answered weekly here, use the search. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ElevenNotes · 2023-12-12 13:08 Netdata comes to mind. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Nicht666 · 2023-12-12 13:32 https://cockpit-project.org ---------------------------------------------------------------------- MisterBazz · 2023-12-12 13:47 Landscape is a paid product, but can be used for free up to 10 nodes. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- MisterBazz · 2023-12-12 13:47 Zabbis is a good monitoring suite. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-12-12 13:50 Yep. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- samael6 · 2023-12-12 14:12 I have more than 10 servers. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-12-12 14:17 Well then pay for it? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- samael6 · 2023-12-12 14:52 Yeah, why not? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-12-12 15:03 You can afford to pay for 10+ servers in the cloud, but you cant (or more likely, dont want to) afford paying for software? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- skc5 · 2023-12-12 15:06 Ubuntu pro licenses are really cheap (especially compared to competitors) and gets you things like ESM security patches for 10 years and kernel livepatching ---------------------------------------------------------------------- samael6 · 2023-12-12 15:10 Yes, you are right, it seems like the right thing to do. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- seanpmassey · 2023-12-12 15:39 First, you may not find one tool to do everything you want. Second, I'm not clear on exactly what you're asking for. There are different types of management tools. There are configuration management tools that handle operating system and application management like installing packages and updates. And there are monitoring tools that will give you details about the health of the systems and applications. It sounds like you're already using Ansible, so you can look at deploying AWX as a front-end for that. I haven't used it personally, but it might fit your use case. There are also a bunch of open source monitoring tools like Zabbix that others have mentioned.
