Managing Self-Hosted Music with Playlists reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- slyfoxreddit · 2023-12-11 22:55 I rely heavily on playlists and smart playlists. Albums and tracks are added to situations-specific, mood-specific, or board game-specific playlists. I've tried to use Plexamp, but managing PLaylsits via Plex is a very cumbersome experience. It seems to me that the best option that I have is to listen to and manage music on my NAS using Apple Music on my Mac and then use Plexamp if I need to stream a specific album. Since Plex does not support importing Playlists from Apple Music, my playlists will be stuck with the Music app and possibly synced via iCloud Match. Navidrome is not an option since there is no easy way to create smart playlists, and it cannot delete tracks. When I listen to music via the Music app or even Pleamp, I can setup a keyboard shortcut to mark the track as one start and go to the next track. Then at the end of the week, I delete all one-start tracks. This cannot be easily done with Navidrome. Any other ideas on how to achieve this or Apple Music + Playlists and Plex + Plexamp is the best combo? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- sentriz · 2023-12-12 02:34 if you're a user of beets.io, try its smart playlists plugin with gonic. then set the playlist output folder to gonic's playlist path. they will be kept synchronised https://beets.readthedocs.io/en/stable/plugins/smartplaylist.html. https://github.com/sentriz/gonic/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- aamfk · 2023-12-12 03:17 Don't you have all your albums and artists in different folders? I got a couple of terabytes, and I only ever play an artist / album or one of my compilations at a time. I'd LIKE to discover more playlists, but in that sense... I see a playlist as a list of shit I need to download from youtube. I hate youtube with a passion. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- slyfoxreddit · 2023-12-12 03:20 I am not sure what you are asking specifically. I listen to various artists and albums and add tracks to Specific playlists. For example, I have playlists for various board games and tracks come from different artists and albums. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- aamfk · 2023-12-12 03:21 I just wish that I could leach other people's youtube playlists ---------------------------------------------------------------------- slyfoxreddit · 2023-12-12 03:52 Try Downie app or PullTube if you have a Mac. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- aamfk · 2023-12-12 03:53 Nah, I got tartube, and it gives me a crapton of options. It's just the part about discovering what OTHER people are listening to. I wanna start sending everyone I talk to a SurveyMonkey where I ask for their top 10 artists or something. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Eisai_Kurosawa · 2023-12-12 04:52 Navidrome actually can create smart playlists and I've been using this function for a while, they didn't cover this function in their documentation. You can find details here: [https://github.com/navidrome/navidrome/issues/1417](https://github.co m/navidrome/navidrome/issues/1417) But you are right, you can not delete files from Navidrome. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Woke_killa · 2023-12-12 10:40 I use navidrome, but playlists, song ratings, etc. don't work there, only playback works.
