Best self-hosted, open source email server? reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- VewixxPlayer · 2023-12-11 22:50 I am looking for an email server that works with an LDAP setup (I want the mailboxes address and passwords to be the same from LDAP, domain is already configured in LDAP). Ideally it would be able to serve CalDAV calendars and CardDAV address lists associated with the email. Clients will be mostly Thunderbird on Linux or K-9 on Android, so whatever works better for these clients. After some research, the closest I found is Modoboa, but I'm not sure if I can connect it to a LDAP server, and it doesn't seem to support CardDAV. Thanks in advance. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Impressive-Self9135 · 2023-12-11 23:01 Check out [Stalwart](https://stalw.art) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- adamshand · 2023-12-11 23:54 Stalwart is my pick as well but I don’t think it supports cal/card dav. :-( ---------------------------------------------------------------------- KD_done · 2023-12-12 00:26 Modoboa supports cardav.. at least it has a sync function for it in the contacts module. [https://github.com/modoboa/modoboa-contacts/blob/f6fd455cdc51ce8c86f3 026a0b4d1d44a3fa52cb/modoboa\_contacts/tasks.py#L30](https://github.co m/modoboa/modoboa-contacts/blob/f6fd455cdc51ce8c86f3026a0b4d1d44a3fa52 cb/modoboa_contacts/tasks.py#L30) Mailu is a whole "suite" that services what you are looking for.. I guess.. it all depends on where you would want to store it.. cause, technically, a mailserver is not related to car and caldav stuff.. perhaps Radicale could help you out, but it all depends on how you want to marry the user bases. Stalwart is a perfectly good mailserver (although the whole jmail thing is.. well, you know, so extra), but works well with cyrus they say, but postfix dovecot is my prefrence, and I offer cal/cardav services via nextcloud (and all that has an LDAP backend). Technically, asking for a mailserver with car/caldav support is asking is trying to make a car fly.. it's hard, impossible, and blackberry made it work.. kinda.. but that was kinda the only thing that could dor car/caldav via SMTP. Anyways.. iRedmail is also nice, and does what you want.. I guess. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ddpbsd · 2023-12-12 11:35 Postfix probably. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- arcadianarcadian · 2023-12-12 19:49 Axigen. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Stewge · 2023-12-16 02:53 Have a look at Mailcow. Very easy to setup Docker containers and quite powerful. I've been running it for years. Supports Caldav/carddav support comes from SoGO and LDAP support is currently in testing/nightly builds according to this: https://mailcow.email/posts/2023/ldap-announcement/
