NVR with 24/7 recording and mobile app

I am looking for free NVR software that has 24/7 recording, view
recording in timeline and a mobile app. Cameras would send feed via
rstp. Other features like motion/smart detection would be nice but not
a requirement. My main goal is to replicate the Nest app where I can
scroll the recordings continuously on my Android phone.

The closest I have found was Milestone Essential + but the transcoding
of the video caused my viewing of the recorded footage to be very
pixelated and that was while I was streaming locally within my
network.

[Shinobi.video](https://Shinobi.video) also has a nice timeline
feature in the web UI but the mobile app did not have that option. It
was also using a lot of CPU with just 4 cameras set to recording and
do no motion detection.

I have frigate setup at the moment but there is no timeline view of
recordings nor a mobile app.

Any other options available? Any installation requirements would be
ok.

Can you use a browser shortcut on your device's home screen instead of
an app?

That would work. The main thing I'm looking for is an easy to use
mobile interface.

Home Assistant will let you create dashboards that are pretty close to
what you want and it has a mobile app.

I use a Home Assistant automation to push snapshots to my phone when a
person comes to the front door.

The nice thing about integrating with HASS is you can leverage other
sensors so your NVR isn’t harassing you over every movement. For
instance, I don’t get notified about people at my front door if the
front door ajar sensor was open within the last 60 seconds (meaning
it’s an occupant entering/leaving).

I use home assistant with frigate now. Home assistant is missing the
timeline view.
