DweebUI v0.07 - A simple Docker web interface. reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- lllllllillllllillll · 2023-12-09 19:19 DweebUI is a simple Docker web interface created with Javascript and Node.js. I've been pushing updates to Github and Docker hub, but it's been several weeks since my last update here. (Don't want to look like I'm spamming) The biggest changes are the removal of Redis and the ability to remove Proxy Manager. You can also change DweebUI to use a port other than 8000 though an ENV variable. v0.07 (Dec 8th 2023) View container logs. Removed Redis. Improved uninstall function and form id fix. WebUI Port can be changed in compose.yml Code clean-up. Updated dependencies (systeminformation). v0.06 (Nov 24th 2023) Multi-platform image (amd64/arm64). Removed Caddy from compose file. Proxy Manager UI can be enabled from environment variable. Removed hardcoded redis passwords. Repo change: Implemented image build-and-publish and dependabot (Thank you, gaby). Updated dependencies. If you're brave enough to test this out, and have 10 or more containers running, could you please send me a screenshot of the dashboard. https://github.com/lllllllillllllillll/DweebUI ---------------------------------------------------------------------- la_tete_finance · 2023-12-09 20:38 I just looked around the repository a bit and I admit this looks pretty cool. What are the plans going forward? Is it meant just to be a dashboard or is the intention for this to be a base platform for self hosting with built-in authentication, login, back up, etc.? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- lllllllillllllillll · 2023-12-09 21:42 My primary goal is to simplify using Docker and managing containers. I'd like to get it to a state where it can be used as an alternative to other container management applications, like Portainer. My secondary goal is to keep any extra features completely optional and without you needing to perform any additional configuration. You can display and control all of your Docker containers without needing to install them through DweebUI or giving the containers special labels. It should just work 'out of the box'. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- LeftBus3319 · 2023-12-10 00:22 [Here's a screenshot with 65~ containers.](https://i.imgur.com/ciB44UH.png) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- broken_cogwheel · 2023-12-10 02:20 I have two questions: 1. Do you support or intend to support agents like portainer or something where you can unify docker running on multiple machines? - I briefly looked but didn't see anything mentioning this. 2. Do you have any tests in your project? I looked briefly but didn't see any (I could have missed something) - if not, you should consider it...specially if you're new to javascript. Thanks! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- lllllllillllllillll · 2023-12-10 07:19 Thank you! That helps me a lot. The missing icons I can get fixed quickly. Would you be able to give me some details about your setup, so that I can figure out why the container graphs aren't displaying. Do you have any browser extensions that might stop them from displaying? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- lllllllillllllillll · 2023-12-10 07:42 1) At some point, definitely. 2) What kind of tests? Using Github workflows? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- lllllllillllllillll · 2023-12-10 07:50 Is it better to have the containers, the images, networks, and volumes all displayed on one page, or is it better to keep them in their own individual pages? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- l0rd_raiden · 2023-12-10 08:16 It would be nice to have support to group containers so I could group them by compose file. In addition would be nice to have update capabilities like watchtower. Maybe just keep watchtower as a backend and make an UI integrated in yours. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- LeftBus3319 · 2023-12-10 18:19 I redeployed and [they show up](https://i.imgur.com/NcxM8Ig.png), so I'm sure I goofed something up initially. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- broken_cogwheel · 2023-12-10 21:06 I am referring to code tests--for javascript I use https://jestjs.io/ If you're unfamiliar with testing, it's something I would recommend. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- lllllllillllllillll · 2023-12-11 01:41 Good to hear. I added 14 icons to https://github.com/lllllllillllllillll/DweebUI- Icons for some of the ones you're missing. I'm working on an option to hide containers as well. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- lllllllillllllillll · 2023-12-11 07:46 Do you mean just group them so that they're side-by-side, or something where multiple containers would only display as one? Watchtower is available in the default app templates at the moment, and I was planning on adding an update indicator to the dashboard. There is a "update" dropdown in the UI, but it's a placeholder right now. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- l0rd_raiden · 2023-12-11 07:57 Not display them as one but somehow list them in groups. In addition I think the huge icons are a waste of space. Maybe you can take a look to unRAID docker UI with the docker folders plugin. https://www.google.com/search?q=unraid+docker+folder&client=firefox- b-m&tbm=isch https://images.app.goo.gl/h4DtM4yiy6GG2Pxr9 https://images.app.goo.gl/Qa63HFQKenzySSGi8 On the other hand it would be interesting to add docker Scout, to have a view of the vulnerabilities of the images. BTW what is the goal of this project? How it inwill be different or better than portainer? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- lllllllillllllillll · 2023-12-12 02:36 I wanted a way to view my server metrics, my container metrics, and control my containers, from a single page. The closest thing I could find was Cockpit. It's mostly just a personal project that I decided to share, it may never be proper alternative to anything. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Sure-Temperature · 2023-12-13 17:23 I couldn't tell from the screenshots on the repo, but does this allow showing logs from running containers as well as recreating and pulling images for containers? Those are about the only two functions I use Portainer for and I've been itching to find a replacement ---------------------------------------------------------------------- lllllllillllllillll · 2023-12-14 02:08 Yes, you can view container logs now, but its pretty rough and simplistic. There is a UI element for 'update', but nothing built-in yet. I'll probably focus on that next. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- lllllllillllllillll · 2023-12-14 02:17 I've uploaded a screenshot of the log view: https://github.com/lllllll illllllillll/DweebUI/blob/dev/screenshots/logs.png ---------------------------------------------------------------------- oOflyeyesOo · 2023-12-19 17:24 Quite a few docker management apps popping up? With the direction you are going, and have you think of just combining forces with a project like Cosmos that is a bit farther down the roadmap? I saw two other projects the past 2 days too.
