Streaming home cable TV over the Internet? reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- bankyan · 2023-12-09 12:40 I want to be able to stream our home cable TV (DVB-C) over the Internet on various devices. I have a small HP T630 (AMD GX-420GI) thin client running Proxmox and was hoping to use a USB DVB-C tuner (like [this one](https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006077683660.html)) for this. Would the hardware work and what software will achieve this? Thanks. I live in Europe so HD Home run is not easily accessible. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thomas-mc-work · 2023-12-09 20:42 This is possible. I'm doing the same using the software tvheadend (open source oft course). Although the project is badly maintained (no proper releases) it's pretty mature and running stable. Regriding your receiver: You can look into this wiki to find out about the kernel supporting it and if a firmware is required: https://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Hauppauge_WinTV-dualHD Tvheadend: https://tvheadend.org/ You can also run it in a container, which is working very good: https://hub.docker.com/r/linuxserver/tvheadend ---------------------------------------------------------------------- sherbibv · 2023-12-10 14:26 +1 for tvheadend. I'm running it in a docker container. Works well for me.
