Trying to setup Koillection on unraid, but noob with how to setup everything. reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Aligatueur · 2023-12-08 20:42 Heyah ! So after my last post, I was finally able to put my hands on my server and enjoy it a little. So it's the good time to setup Koillection. However, i'm struggling with noobish stuff. * I used the Koillection from the application page. * It doesn't work because I need the database to be setup. But i've no clue on how to do that the right way (yes it's that low level) Any step by step help ? Thanks o/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-12-08 21:07 > It doesn't work because I need the database to be setup. I've found that i'd need the PostgreSQL (which would be helpful for Nextcloud in the future) but yeah the setup is confusing Not sure what the exact problem is. Why not simply deploy a Postgres db as a container and then connect whatever Koillection is to that? Here is a example docker compose that i often use: version: '3' services: postgres: container_name: postgres image: postgres:15.2-alpine3.17 restart: unless-stopped ports: - 5432:5432 environment: - TZ=Europe/Berlin - POSTGRES_DB=postgres - POSTGRES_USER=postgres - POSTGRES_PASSWORD=postgres volumes: - ./postgres:/var/lib/postgresql/data ### optional startup init.sql scripts can be provided in a folder like this: # - ./postgres-init:/docker-entrypoint-initdb.d:z healthcheck: test: ["CMD-SHELL", "pg_isready -q -d $${POSTGRES_DB} -U $${POSTGRES_USER} -h localhost"] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Aligatueur · 2023-12-08 21:09 Well that's pretty much the issue, i'm not sure how to deploy the Postgres db and then connect it to Koillection (and at the same time being able to do another db in the future for my Nextcloud project) Just get the Postgres docker, install it and let it run ? Thanks ! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-12-08 21:13 > Well that's pretty much the issue, i'm not sure how to deploy the Postgres db Thats why i posted you a compose example to do that. > then connect it to Koillection If you deploy it as a seperate container it would need port 5432 mapped and then you tell Koillection to connect on the host IP with that mapped port to Postgres. > (and at the same time being able to do another db in the future for my Nextcloud project) As i mentioned, that is not a good idea. > Just get the Postgres docker, install it and let it run ? You dont "get a docker and install it", you deploy containers. Those containers use specific images as their source and Docker will download them for you, then start the container with the settings you specify. Maybe ask /r/Docker for help. Reading the Docker documentation is a good idea too. There are also plenty of beginner tutorials and guides, on Youtube for example, whatever you prefer. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Aligatueur · 2023-12-08 21:22 I'm gonna head to r/unraid for that, seems to fit more there yeaaah. Thanks a lot <3
