Projectmanagement reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- alber7777 · 2023-12-08 09:45 Hello, I am new here and want to ask, which are the best on-premises OpenSource Tools for Project Management right now? I looked for OpenProject, Jira, and other stuff. But Maybe someone has a tool to suggest and some experiences with those above. Tyvm! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SteradDigital · 2023-12-08 09:54 Leantime, Taiga, Tuleap, Plane (haven't really used much of this), OpenProject ---------------------------------------------------------------------- rrrmmmrrrmmm · 2023-12-08 10:32 There are usually two main recommendations: 1. [Vikunja](https://vikunja.io/). I'd say that it is enough for most cases as it has most main features people need and is very lightweight. 2. [OpenProject](https://www.openproject.org/). It has _a lot_ of features and they also give you professional support and features optionally if you need that. It has probably all the stuff that Jira has and has some plugins and integrations. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- RunOrBike · 2023-12-08 11:03 I’m using [redmine](https://redmine.org). It comes with a learning curve, but has almost endless possibilities. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- lilolalu · 2023-12-08 11:36 I think it really depends on the type of project and the project management you are going to apply. If you have an agile software development project that might favour a different software than a waterfall construction project. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- IgnisDa · 2023-12-08 12:27 https://github.com/makeplane/plane ---------------------------------------------------------------------- UnseemlyCorgi · 2023-12-08 13:13 I use Leantime in my lab and like it quite a bit ---------------------------------------------------------------------- fideli_ · 2023-12-08 13:53 On that note, what would be good for a waterfall construction project? I'm on a large project now where I'm using Leantime as a way to manage tasks but its timeline feature leaves much to be desired vs traditional scheduling tools like MS Project or Primavera. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- lilolalu · 2023-12-08 14:17 I only used OpenProject and I think it's better suited for tradicional project management with Gantt charts etc. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Sky_Linx · 2023-12-08 15:49 I use https://planka.app/ and I love it ---------------------------------------------------------------------- NMS-Town · 2023-12-08 16:33 I used Projeqtor, its had both Gantt and Kanban for free. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- RydRychards · 2023-12-08 21:12 After giving leantime a try I landed on kanboard. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- nanithedata · 2023-12-09 20:10 Plane looks very promising but I have had no luck setting it up in my existing homelab. I recommend trying it out online before sinking in too much time since some features that would seem obvious are still missing (like recurring tasks)
