Mistborn Selfhosted reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- dryEther · 2023-12-08 07:47 Guys, anyone has experience with [Mistborn](https://gitlab.com/cyber5k/mistborn) ? It looks promising. If it's stable and a decent setup guide can be found, that will be amazing. Please share your thoughts and/or experience about it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- JordanBerlyn · 2023-12-08 08:12 Not sure about the software, but highly recommend the book series. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Efficient_Bird_6681 · 2023-12-08 09:41 Never seen it before. But I like what i see ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Fluffer_Wuffer · 2023-12-08 10:52 I can't comment on its usability, but its has been around for a long time, if you search through this sub, it's been mentioned quite a few times. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mikewilkinsjr · 2023-12-08 13:34 I set it up as a proof of concept (since I use several of the pieces individually). I think it’s a great starting point for getting into the security technologies included in the package. The author does take an opinionated stance (which, to be clear, I think is mostly great to help people get started) on which packages to use: traefik vs npm, pi-hole vs adguard home, etc. Ultimately, I wanted to split things up and use a couple of packages that weren’t part of the bundle (AGH instead of pi-hole, for instance), so I went back to my deployment. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mtx0 · 2023-12-08 14:27 why would they use the name of a book series? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- arond3 · 2023-12-08 14:54 Same there great series. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Nico_is_not_a_god · 2023-12-08 15:24 The dev's username is "stormblest" so I think he's just a big /r/cosmere nerd. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 5redie8 · 2023-12-08 16:43 > Stormblest / Mistborn I think there's a relation here lol ---------------------------------------------------------------------- clarksonswimmer · 2023-12-08 17:17 Saved you a click: > Mistborn: A secure platform for easily standing up and managing your own cloud services: including firewall, ad-blocking, and multi-factor WireGuard VPN access ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Frosty_Cup9590 · 2023-12-08 18:41 I have it installed on a Linux linode. I couldn't make tunnel work. Everything else is good. Tunnel is supposed to enable using pihole without changing vpn. Or for using Netflix. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 83736294827 · 2023-12-08 18:59 Has anyone compared this to cosmos server? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- dryEther · 2023-12-08 21:04 That is a very good question. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- GroundbreakingAd220 · 2023-12-09 01:36 I've been using it for the past year and it's a great suite of software... It's got a lot of useful pieces of software paired with a easy to use WireGuard VPN built in... Has nextcloud synching bitwarden onlyoffice... I will however say he's working on a version 2 and upgrading will be impossible... I would suggest Casa OS or something till version 2 releases ---------------------------------------------------------------------- technologiq · 2023-12-09 02:56 Found it's much more reliable to run those services on my own. If something goes sideways with one of the applications I don't risk everything going down to fix/reset. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SeventhExcuse · 2023-12-09 14:06 Hero
