Looking for a way to manage IT classroom projects/jobs reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- dprimedx · 2023-12-07 14:10 Hey folks, I teach IT at a comprehensive high school. As part of moving away from pushing the A+ cert on my students, I'm looking to get them involved in more jobs - fixing stuff for teachers, the public, etc. What I'm looking for is a way to keep track of all of this. I had considered something like osTicket, but I'm not entirely sure how appropriate that would be. In short, it would need to track what the job is, who worked on it, keep track of the contact information for the client, etc. It'd also need to be simple enough for high schoolers to pick up and be willing to use. Writing this out, I'm thinking a ticket management system *would* be appropriate, but I'm still open to other ideas! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Legitimate_Farm_3095 · 2023-12-07 15:25 did you look at awesome self hosted as suggested in the side bar? did you search the sub for ticket systems? did you search google for open source/free ticket system? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- dprimedx · 2023-12-07 17:27 Yes. Yes. And yes. I'm familiar with ticket systems, thoroughly. What I was asking about was if there are *any alternative options to ticketing systems that may be more appropriate for this*. Thanks though. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- olejazz · 2023-12-08 07:32 I would recommend a simple ticket system for this, as it would probably make your life easier e.g. osTicket (or osticketawesome) already mentioned, Trac, Zammad. Other non-ticket options: kanboard?
