Firefox Accounts Server (FxA) with Docker - realistically doable? Any complete and working guide on how to do it? reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ich_hab_deine_Nase · 2023-12-07 10:28 Hello dear friends, I've been running my own syncstorage-rs server for quite some time now. It's a good things, but the downside is, that you still need a Firefox account to use it. So in that context, I would love to run my own Firefox Accounts server as well, preferably with Docker. But all the guides, especially the Firefox official one, just look so incomplete and overcomplicated. So the first question that I have is, did someone really managed to selfhost FxA? And if yes how is the experience with setting it up and running it? Someone has a really good, complete guide on how to run FxA with Docker? I found this one: [GitHub - jackyzy823/fxa-selfhosting: Selfhosting your own Firefox Accounts (FxA)!](https://github.com/jackyzy823/fxa-selfhosting) But it looks a little bit "imprecise". Any other experience to share? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- RyuuPendragon · 2023-12-07 10:53 !remind me 1 month ---------------------------------------------------------------------- RemindMeBot · 2023-12-07 10:54 I will be messaging you in 1 month on [**2024-01-07 10:53:45 UTC**](ht tp://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=2024-01- 07%2010:53:45%20UTC%20To%20Local%20Time) to remind you of [**this link **](https://www.reddit.com/r/selfhosted/comments/18csqzk/firefox_accou nts_server_fxa_with_docker/kccnee9/?context=3) [**CLICK THIS LINK**](https://www.reddit.com/message/compose/?to=Remin dMeBot&subject=Reminder&message=%5Bhttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.reddit.com%2Fr%2F selfhosted%2Fcomments%2F18csqzk%2Ffirefox_accounts_server_fxa_with_doc ker%2Fkccnee9%2F%5D%0A%0ARemindMe%21%202024-01- 07%2010%3A53%3A45%20UTC) to send a PM to also be reminded and to reduce spam. ^(Parent commenter can ) [^(delete this message to hide from others.)] (https://www.reddit.com/message/compose/?to=RemindMeBot&subject=Delete %20Comment&message=Delete%21%2018csqzk) ***** |[^(Info)](https://www.reddit.com/r/RemindMeBot/comments/e1bko7/remind mebot_info_v21/)|[^(Custom)](https://www.reddit.com/message/compose/?t o=RemindMeBot&subject=Reminder&message=%5BLink%20or%20message%20inside %20square%20brackets%5D%0A%0ARemindMe%21%20Time%20period%20here)|[^(Yo ur Reminders)](https://www.reddit.com/message/compose/?to=RemindMeBot& subject=List%20Of%20Reminders&message=MyReminders%21)|[^(Feedback)](ht tps://www.reddit.com/message/compose/?to=Watchful1&subject=RemindMeBot %20Feedback)| |-|-|-|-| ---------------------------------------------------------------------- RyuuPendragon · 2023-12-07 10:56 !RemindMe 1 Month ---------------------------------------------------------------------- NikStalwart · 2023-12-07 12:44 > But it looks a little bit "imprecise". Can you tell us what you mean by 'imprecise'? I've skimmed the project you linked. I don't like the idea of using a config script written by someone else — I might as well write my own — but I would not have a problem following those instructions. Looks precise enough to me. Any more information and it borders on patronizing. In fact, I don't see the problem with writing your own dockerfile. FXA is a nodejs app and already is configured for pm2 (nodejs process manager). Just clone the repo, use nodejs as a base image and set entrypoint to 'yarn start' or something like that. Should work without major issue. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Cylian91460 · 2023-12-07 12:55 Can't you write your own docker compose ? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- subven1 · 2023-12-07 13:36 Are you preparing to move away from Chrome and Google Sync because of manifest V3? I try to push Cloudron towards packaging the FF Sync/Acc server for their app store as it seems complicated to do it on your own (even with Docker). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- kayson · 2023-12-07 16:00 Have this comment bookmarked for when I give it a shot myself: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=30727935 Best piece of info in there is about the chat ---------------------------------------------------------------------- highedutechsup · 2023-12-07 16:44 interested ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Salzig · 2023-12-07 18:48 Could you elaborate where [https://github.com/jackyzy823/fxa- selfhosting](https://github.com/jackyzy823/fxa-selfhosting) is "imprecise"? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Not_your_guy_buddy42 · 2023-12-08 00:51 Seems like in this project the docker-compose.yml is being managed by [YTT](https://github.com/k14s/ytt/) . And the instructions tell you to only adjust the config.yml and run init.sh. The resulting docker compose has over a 1000 lines ---------------------------------------------------------------------- HammyHavoc · 2023-12-29 13:24 Anybody got a script for Portainer?
