Domain VS IP access reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- usrdef · 2023-12-06 15:19 I've had to put a few services over a domain for myself, and was able to restrict the subdomains to where only I can access those particular URLs. My question is, what route do I take for restricting those subdomains being inaccessible via IP address. Would this be something at the OS level? Or can it be done via services such as Nginx. It it were just via a local network, I could kill ALL access, but I need some to be open to the public. But they're secure in regards to authentication / FIDO 2 / passkeys. But I'd still like to make the IP address completely inaccessible to any outsiders ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 654354365476435 · 2023-12-06 15:54 Reverse proxy is for that. You can also.use zero trust from cloudflare with does this automaticly with proxy - it also hides you IP in general for all domanins. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- usrdef · 2023-12-06 16:16 Thanks, I'll look into reverse proxy for Docker / Nginx. I have a few self-hosted projects currently running on Caddy 2, but that's only because the documentation for the software included instructions, and I figured it would be nice to have. But I've never really dived deep into how exactly reverse proxy works. Think it's time to pull out some google searches. I have Cloudflare, but I haven't looked into Zero Trust yet. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 654354365476435 · 2023-12-06 17:41 Cool, let me know what this projects are, Im always looking for ideas to justify my server spending
