Newer Realtek NIC support in home NAS running Debian Bookworm reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- secondary33 · 2023-12-06 07:45 Hello all, I'm looking at the [MSI PRO Z690-P DDR4](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/nGRYcf/msi-pro-z690-p-ddr4-atx- lga1700-motherboard-pro-z690-p-ddr4) motherboard for my build. Its NIC is a Realtek device, which I'd prefer due to their inability to run Intel's AMT. I found [this](https://linuxreviews.org/Realtek_RTL_8125) chart showing kernel support for the 8125 family of Realtek devices, but it doesn't reference the newer 8125BG version in the board I'm looking at. Would Bookworm's 6.1 kernel drivers be fine to run this specific variant of the NIC? For anyone who has used a similar Realtek device, have you noticed any strange behavior, like odd wakeups or fan noise? I'd prefer to use the open source kernel drives if possible. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-12-06 12:05 Has nothing to do with selfhosting.
