Tube archivist download video and audio reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- dotinho · 2023-12-05 20:20 Hi guys, When driving I like to like to listen podcasts and some YouTube videos. Right now I open invidious and download as audio. Today I got my eyes on Tube Archivists, it’s nice because of subscription of playlist and channels. But it was even better if download video and audio separated, it’s possible? Thank you. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- pairofcrocs · 2023-12-06 00:08 It's not possible yet. I don't want to promise anything, but we do have a couple of users that are talking about developing this feature on our Discord right now. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Only_CORE · 2023-12-06 09:17 I too listen to Youtube podcasts on my way to work and I use Podsync. I have it setup that when for example video from LinusTechTips contains "WAN Show" in the title, it automatically downloads it. The app creates an RSS feed which I then set in my podcast app on my phone (Podcast Addict) where it will also automatically download. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- dotinho · 2023-12-06 09:58 Seems very interesting, I’m going look it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- syeopite · 2023-12-08 01:05 By separate audio and video do you mean, two files where one is just a silent video and the other is just the audio? Or do you mean having both the video (with included audio) and also a separate audio file? If you're comfortable with the command line, I'd recommend just using yt-dlp which can easily accomplish this. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- dotinho · 2023-12-08 08:23 Yes, 2 files. The standard video to see on PC or tv and audio to listen on phone, during car etc. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- dotinho · 2023-12-08 16:39 Alright, with configuration I’m downloading audio only has I want. About file name, it’s possible instead of files keep original names, but channel and title names? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- syeopite · 2023-12-13 15:02 In that case `yt-dlp "https://youtube.com/watch?v=ID" -x -k` will do what you want and in all combinations actually! It'll create an audio file and a video file with both the audio and video, as well as two intermediate files that'd contain only the audio and video. Explanation ``` yt-dlp [url] -x (extract audio) -k (keep intermediate files) ```
