I don't know how to set up an email client? reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- loosepotatoes · 2023-12-05 16:40 Apologies if I'm in the wrong subreddit. Google brought me here. \--- I recently got a new job and my employer sent me all the details to set up a new email. He said this is not a regular email and that I will have to go "choose my own client". And I have no idea what that means. He gave me an email, a password, incoming and outgoing servers, an IMAP port and an SMTP port. But what am I supposed to do with this information? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-12-05 16:51 Correct, this is the wrong subreddit. Pick a email client for your desktop OS, things like Outlook or Thunderbird. Windows has "Mail" builtin usually. Then just look at guides on how to add a email account in that client. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- LinkDude80 · 2023-12-05 16:58 You might want to try r/techsupport. This subreddit is for people who are hosting applications on servers. To answer your question, you have a program on your phone or computer for checking regular email right? Go to that program. That's your client. Go through the process you normally would to set up an email address but click "Other" instead of Gmail Yahoo etc. The prompts should ask you for all of that information you were sent. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- loosepotatoes · 2023-12-05 18:43 So sorry for interupting your the subreddit! But I appreciate the help. Thank youuu ---------------------------------------------------------------------- loosepotatoes · 2023-12-05 18:44 I appreciate the help! Thank youu ---------------------------------------------------------------------- webdevmike · 2023-12-06 05:14 To answer your question, you want an email client such as outlook or thunderbird. Alternatively, you can like that account to your gmail. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- kmisterk · 2023-12-06 17:21 ## Post Removed Hey, loosepotatoes!
