Looking for Photo and Video gallery with annotations/labels (not for
AI)
reddit / selfhosted

Hello, I'm looking for a self-hosted service that allows storing
images and videos, highlighting specific areas, and adding
annotations. These programs are not intended for AI training but
rather for commenting on images in highlighted regions. Artists, for
example, can use them to indicate edits in an image. The functionality
is present in Eagle, but this program is offline and doesn't have
collaboration functions. I've been trying to find something similar
for the past 3 days and the most similar thing I found it's VGG Image
Annotator (VIA), but it's too outdated :(

Check out https://github.com/rr-/szurubooru.

It's a bit NSFW but I've used it for actual work (after a quick scrub
from NSFW features) because it's really nicely made. Awesome
categorization via tags and quick search. It also has annotations as
"Notes" although I have never used it. It has a nice REST API that
helps immensely with initial import of preexisting collections.

I have used it for at least 3 years. More than 10k files. I can't
remember it ever giving me problems. Maybe we should ask the devs for
a SFW version because it's GOOD.
