Feedback wanted: OSS alternative to videsk.io, uptok.com, or glia.com reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- sanderspedro · 2023-12-05 03:06 In October, I did a 30-day challenge to build Goodtok, a video communication platform, as an OSS alternative to uptok.com. That was my way of celebrating Hacktoberfest. I later found that several companies offer similar solutions, so now I wonder if there is space in the market for an OSS alternative. TLDR;  → [https://goodtok.io](https://goodtok.io/) Goodtok is currently in version v0.1.10 and comes with the following features: * Easy-to-install video widget (3-4 lines of code) * A dashboard with a queue ☑️ A workspace for collaboration (invite your staff) * Hours of operations to show the “online/offline” status widget * Real-time events for queue status * An SDK-first approach And more! I will likely continue developing and maintaining Goodtok, as it's a problem set I’m passionate about. However, I would love to hear from folks who have used tools like this in the past. Have you ever wished something like this was available for self-hosting? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- marbonmb · 2023-12-05 06:46 Be proud of your creation! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Bitter_Motor_9081 · 2023-12-05 10:27 Congratulations on the release. I saw a demo on Twitter, but didn't see a chat feature. Are you only doing video? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- sanderspedro · 2023-12-05 11:40 Totally :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- sanderspedro · 2023-12-05 14:36 Yes, live chat and chatbots are definitely on my mind. In fact, I'm thinking of adding chat functionality along with widget customization.
