Easiest way to manage a home media server? (Iomega) reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 1doughnut · 2023-12-05 00:37 I dusted off an Iomega Home Media Network Hard Drive Cloud Edition, and while I can use the default iomega app interface, it's pretty restrictive. Things like only uploading a single file at a time. I'm just looking to be able to navigate through it like windows explorer, simply adding/deleting multiple files and folders at a time. Would you have any suggestions? Thanks! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- radix- · 2023-12-05 02:18 Probably time to upgrade to a Synology or similar NAS, which is supported. iomegas been out of business for over 5 years. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- breadcrumb1977 · 2023-12-05 02:30 Synology has a really nice ui compared to most I've tried. Never touched true nas. Can't speak to it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- WhatsUrPinNumber · 2023-12-05 03:02 It will make all your digital dreams come true..... I'm not lying! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 1doughnut · 2023-12-05 04:12 It's more of fun thing to tinker with, rather than something I want to spend more money on, especially since I had it unused all these years. It works well with all the devices once you get the files on the drive. It's just the interface is cumbersome to get to that point... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-12-05 04:23 See if you can set up basic SMB shares on it, then connect them as mapped drives in your Windows Explorer, done. And /r/HomeNetworking etc is probably more fitting. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- radix- · 2023-12-05 04:53 synology gives you plenty of fun to tinker with if that's what you're looking for ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 1doughnut · 2023-12-06 15:44 Thanks - this was the first board google came up with. Still new to this LOL ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 1doughnut · 2023-12-06 15:45 Will give it a shot - any tips for noobs?
